There is no place like home!

This is the house that I grew up in. It has been through many changes over the years. It will soon be gone. Momma's flowers were in full bloom not long before construction started on the new house. I decided to document the old house and Momma with her flowers. The trees are the ones that I climbed as a kid. The swing on the front porch assisted me with my courting days. Jackie and I did swing in that swing a few times. I did get a chance to stop in the middle of Hwy 112 with no traffic coming and take a shot or two of the house from the road. Wow. That was scary. Never done anything like that before. Well, the new house is finished and momma has moved in. Soon the old one will be torn down or moved. It is like loosing an old friend. Now the front yard is messed up. The new house hovers over the old one, trying to kick it out of the way.

The flowers have hidden for the winter. By this time next year there will be a new face on the place. A much larger house made of logs will be highly visible from the highway. Hopefully momma will enjoy the new house for many years to come and I am gonna enjoy it too. I feel like I have a new house, too. I will visit momma and help her with various things at the new house. I think it will be OK and I won't miss the old house. She really seems to be enjoying the transition. But I have noticed that she is bringing all the "stuff" (memorabilia) from the old house. She is trying to make it feel like the old house made her feel. Like home. Lots of things are changing but momma's love of flowers, especially her day lilies has not changed. She talks about them like they are people. In fact, she has named some of them after someone special. I don't know if I have one named after me. I'll have to work on that. Hope you enjoy the slide show. Comments are welcome.

.

Buster and Momma have "bonded" during this house building experience. In this picture the house is not quiet finished but well on the way. Buster is quiet a talented guy. He has always been good at woodworking and has made many furniture pieces. He made me a wood chopping block in high school. He built Jackie, my husband, a gun cabinet early in our marriage. The house is finished and Mom has moved in. I will get a slide show together soon to post the various stages of building.

My brother Buster(in the picture) and his wife Lynn are building my moma a new house. It is a log house. It is hard work for someone who has many medical problems. He has to work a while and rest a while. It also has been difficult because of daily rain for the first few weeks of construction and now the unbearable heat. I think he is planning to work at night to beat the heat issue. He should have the roof on by the time he leaves to go home for a few weeks. He is planning to come back in Oct/Nov to finish the job. He has had many helpers along the way. My husband Jackie is one of those. He loves construction as much as Buster. Together they make a good team. The only problem is that Jackie has so many other irons in fire that he hasn't been able to help out as much as he has wanted but God has sent other good helpers to fill in the gaps. Drew, Buster's son, was here a few weeks and was a good helper. Garland, Richard, and Jamie, and Rusty have pitched in , too.

Lucy's Birthday Crawfish Boil May 28, 2007

Memorial Day this year is on Lucy's 26th birthday. We had a family get together and celebrated the day with a crawfish boil. We had the pleasure of enjoying the newest member of the Parker family. His name is Zachary Martin Roy. He was born on May 12. He is a bit over 2 weeks old. We have plenty of pictures in the slide show. I didn't have to do the cooking or cleanup or shoping for this event. I enjoyed that part very much. I also enjoyed holding that new baby and watching other family members hold the baby. It is truely wonderful to hold a new born baby. We also celebrated the fact that we have five generations in our family now. Mawmaw is 81. She is doing good. She made a coconut cake for the event using the eggs from her chickens that she tends.

Well, I lost my fishing liscense. I was hoping to find it in the camper but no luck so I opted to take photos. It was fun to just watch for video opportunities.
