Everybody dance!
Xanga (Yeah, I do have one... sad, I know.)
Live Journal (Seldom updated.)
Okay. My name is Lydia and I'm from Kansas City, MO. This page came about because all the pen pal and internet communities I'm on don't really allow for enough room to give people an idea of what I'm like... How am I supposed to sum myself up in 300 characters?

Okay, well... I'm 17 and I go to a Catholic high school. This sucks, as I am definitely not even Christian.

I love the colour green. I love laughing 'til you cry and your stomach hurts. I love the way the air smells when it rains. I love grey days. I love the feeling that life is beautiful and sad and short and happy and ugly all at once.
I really like theatre, not just acting, I like learning stage design techniques and I'm getting really interested in the Asthetics of Film and Theatre. Art design and stuff like that.

I love music, too. As I am typing this I am listening to a play list at random. It has Badly Drawn Boy, The Jolly Rogers, Coldplay, Bobby Darin, Scissor Sisters, le tigre, The Cranberries, Robbie Williams, Clint Mansell, The Cure, Beck, Dido, Cake, David Bowie, Ben Folds Five, The Sex Pistols, The Kinks, Flogging Molly, Queen, T-Rex, Dresden Dolls, Madonna, The Clash, Modest Mouse, Nickel Creek, Frank Sinatra, Samuel Barber, Rufus Wainwright, Jeff Buckely, Tears for Fears, Radiohead, Gary Jules, Sinead O'Connor, Teada, U2, and, of course, The Beatles. I love a little bit of everything excluding Rap and any country music from the last 20 or so years.

I love studying langauges. I know a little Spanish, French, German and Gaelic (very little Gaelic, I'm just now starting to learn that.)

I read constantly. I love Tolkien, that's my literary staple. Other than that I really like Douglas Adams, Oscar Wilde, Louise Rennison, Francesca Lia Block, Al Franken (what a guy!), Steve Martin, Shakespeare, Stephen Chblosky and anything else that really strikes my fancy. Books are good.

I love films, as well. Funny ones and films that make you think about stuff and what's going on. You won't find me watching American Pie or anything with Hilary Duff in it, if you catch my drift.

I'm very much into my celtic heritage. I don't have that much, but it's what I connect to most, so I celebrate it. I dance, and I'm in the Irish Heritage club at school, that is to say I was until they disbanded it cause the commie bastard administration said it was too exclusive. No it bloody wasn't. You didn't even have to be Irish to join. UGH! Still a bit sore at that one. And like I said, I'm learning Gaelic. It's all very interesting to me.

I don't watch much TV, but when I do it's usually Bravo, or BBC America. I am obsessed with BBC America. I also watch Comedy Central (excluding Mad TV.) and Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. I also really, really, really like Gilmore Girls. Everyone is allowed a guilty pleasure.

If I were to classify myself I would say I'm an alternative sort of kid. A fierce liberal. I hang out at the indie coffee shops and sketch or write, I'm all about world peace and gay rights, I do Food not Bombs, and go to art galleries, I'm headed to Peace Corps after college, and then maybe work for Unicef. Standard artsy fartsy-socially conscious-bleeding heart kid kinda stuff.

I can be sort of an elitist bitch when it comes to some things, like music and movies and stuff. The whole... um... that band is too cool for you, or I think less of you cause you like this band or that movie. I can be somewhat judgemental, but usually not without cause.

I'd say that sort of does it. If there is anything else I left out that you're interested in knowing, e-mail me and ask.
I love my friends. They are the greatest people that exist.

I wish I could say the same for my biological relatives, but alas... they are the scum of the earth.
Pictures of me.

*In reference to the title of this page: "tinge" may be a bit of an understatement. 1
