Almost Famous starring Patrick Fugit, and Kate Hudson
Cameron Crowe hits the bullseye again! Other than having the few scenes with Fairuza Balk ( sorry she annoys me ) in them, the movie is outstanding. Patrick Fugit plays 15 yr old William Miller, an aspiring rock music critic, who lands a deal with Rolling Stone magazine to do an interview with one of his favorite bands Stillwater. As he goes on tour with them he meets and of course falls in love with Penny Lane, played by Kate Hudson, a 'band aid' ( the alternative to groupie ). Only after having her heart broken by lead guitarist Russell Hammond (played by Billy Crudup), does she realize she loves William. Don't think for a second though, that the typical happily ever after happens. Crowe sends his characters off in different directions for a nice twist from the typical. My favorite scene occurs about halfway through. While singing Elton Johns Tiny Dancer, the bandmembers make up after an arguement they had had the night before. This movie deserves 4 stars and then some...but you get the point.
