shrek
starring mike myers, eddie murphy, cameron diaz, and john lithgow

If you combine every faery tale from your childhood with a dab of adult humor, you get Shrek. This is the best family movie since The Neverending story. The characters are amazingly lifelike and detailed. Although they still don't look %100 real they come very close. The animation in this movie makes Toy Story seem archaeic. Shrek ( voice of meyers ) is an ogre, who other than scaring off the occasional upset villagers, lives a fairly quiet life in his swamp. One day the king ( lithgow) decides he wants to rid his 'perfect' kingdom of all the pesky faery tale creatures. To accomplish this he sends them all to the swamp...shreks home. Of course shrek is not happy about this so he sets off to complain saving donkey ( murphy ) along the way. Upon arrival to the kingdom, the king strikes a deal with the two that if they rescue Princess Fiona and bring her to him, he will give him his land back. The two rescue the princess ( diaz ) and set off back to the castle. Along the way Shrek and Fiona fall in love, but due to a secret she hides from him, they fall out and she is set to marry the king. In true faery tale form, the two are united before the marriage is final and as they say...they lived happily ever after. I give this movie 4 stars.
