Founded in November of 1998.  We are a team of experienced and knowledgeable animal rescue people and Sugar Glider owners committed to the well being of Sugar Gliders and all animals. We are dedicated to providing better homes for unwanted Sugar Gliders and promoting the on-going education of proper Sugar Glider care.

SENDING A SUGAR GLIDER TO US

Our headquarters is located in Ohio near Cleveland. You must bring the Sugar Glider to us at your expense. Please contact us to see if we have a location or foster home in your state.  We provide the very best for all the Sugar Gliders in our care.

OUR SERVICES

We place unwanted or abused Sugar Gliders in pre-approved, qualified; loving homes. We provide all necessary care and medical attention for any Sugar Gliders in our care. We convert the Glider rescues over to a proper diet before adopting them out.

WHO IS THE FOUNDER

My name is Dottie Schira and I am the founder of OUT OF LOVE SUGAR GLIDER RESCUE. I have over twenty years of experience in animal rescue. Even longer if you count the years when I was a child taking in strays that needed my help. My parents never knew what I would bring home next. I rescued everything from hurt or homeless groundhogs, squirrels, chipmunks, weasels, birds, turtles, ducks, rabbits, snakes, frogs, toads and field mice to name a few. Can you image what my parents went through? My mom was afraid to enter my bedroom sometimes because she never knew what might be lurking, crawling, hopping, and slithering.

I have over fourteen years of experience heading BIRD PLACEMENT PROGRAM Parrot Refuge, established in 1987, which is an international exotic parrot rescue organization with branches in other states and Canada. I have over 19 years of experience in bird care and breeding, now retired from breeding.. I have twenty years of experience in dog and cat rescue. With dog rescues, I specialize in abandoned pregnant dogs (mutts), Great Danes, Pomeranians and Papillons. IMPORTANT PROJECTS

We are currently raising funds to build a building to house the Sugar Glider rescue at our Ohio headquarters.  Part of the building will be for dog rescues in a separate room, another room will house abandoned pregnant dogs, another room will house parrot rescues and half of that room will be divided by a wall and will house Sugar Glider rescues waiting for new homes.  Please contact us if you are able to send a donation or help with the building which we hope to start and compete this summer.   Construction of the building will start in the next few weeks.  Your donations are desperately needed to finish this rescue building.
