Welcome to my Delta Upsilon site.  This page is here to talk about one of the newest influences, as well as one of the newest things I'm influencing in my life at the moment, Astronomy.  The following definition may prove helpful as you continue to browse the page.
Black Hole (blak hol)
n.
          1.  An extremely small region of space-time with a gravitational field
so intense that nothing can excape, not even light.

          2.  A great void; an abyss

          3.  Delta Upsilon
Once you get involved, it's impossible to get out.
This is not a bad thing, you can't simply because you won't want to.
              It's something known as brotherhood.
By the time you realize the reality of this, you've been sucked in
become a part of it.  Come and see the event horizon; try to leave.
              I bet you can't.
This is our fraternity crest.  Here's a quick rundown of what everything stands for.
The Letters at the top are an overlaid, stylized version of our letters, Delta Upsilon.  That they are overlaid is a symbol of brotherhood.
The banner on the left is the Convention Banner.  The five rings represent the first five provinces of Delta Upsilon, the tree represents the fraternity, and the relation of the different chapters (branches) to International (trunk).
There are two dates at the top.  The                                               first date represents the founding of Delta Upsilon in 1834, and the second                                                          represents the incorperation of the fraternity in 1909.
The banner on the right is called the                                               Assembly Banner.  The five crowns represent the first five officers of the                                                   international fraternity.  The chevron is indicative of a land holding corperate                                                   function.
The helmet at the center of the crest                                               has its visor open, in accordance with our ideals of Ouden Adelon, nothing                                                    secret.
The seven stars represent the seven                                                stars of the fraternity, that is, the first seven chapters of the Delta Upsilon                                                           Fraternity.  The four on top represent the founding four colonies, namely                                                      Williams, Union, Hamilton and Amherst.  These four met at Union College in Troy, NY and formed the Anti-Secret Confederation.  The other three. Wesleyen, Colby and Western Reserve joined a few years later.
Further down on the crest are the Scales of Justice.  These clearly represent our creed, Dikaia Upotheka, Justice our Foundation, which is written on the banner below in Greek.
I guess a sensible thing to do would be link other DU related sites, now wouldn't it.  Lets see...

This is the site for DU Rochester.  Currently it's brothers only, but sometime soon it should be up so you can peek around.
This is DU International.  A pretty extensive site, lots of interesting information, pictures, etc.
I'm not really sure what else to say about Delta Upsilon.  I guess since this is my page, there should be stuff about me...  I got officially involved on October 12th 2000 when I accepted my bid and became the fourth member of Psi Class.  I'm an associate member at the moment, and hopefully, if all goes well, I'll become a full member on Febuary 3rd, 2001.  I can't really say why I decided to join, for those of you that know me well, it seems totally out of character.  I used to think fraternities were places where you paid a bunch of meat heads to beat you up for a semester so they'd call you their friends.  Well it's different at DU.  These meatheads don't beat you up.  Delta Upsilon is the only International non-hazing, non-secret fraternity.  And when we say non hazing, we mean it.  I've never been forced to do things I wouldn't want to, I've never felt uncomfortable with doing anything that was asked of me.  Since we're non-secret, I can tell you all about it.  But not here; ask if you're interested.  Our chapter has taken many steps towards giving fraternities a better name.  We are doing things that are unheard of by fraternities in general.  There are classes with professors in our basement every week, we do all kinds of positive programming, and are very well known throughout campus and Rochester.  It's a great group of guys and I'm glad I got involved.

More to come...  Sometime.
