FINALLY ~ CHAPTER EIGHT

Luke Spencer heard a loud pounding at the door. He felt the sides of his temple pinch. He felt his veins constricting in his body. He was hungover. Like hell.

"GO AWAY!" He yelled without lifting his head off of his desk.

"Is that anyway to greet your sister?"

"Hey there Darlin'." Luke lifted his head and smiled at her. "What brings you by so early in the morning?"

"I need your help, Luke." She said sitting down across from him.

"What's wrong? Is it Jerry?"

Bobbie shook her head. "No, actually it's Jason."

"Morgan's a big boy. He can fight off that daughter of yours all by himself. But if he wants to borrow a big stick, I think I might have one lying around here somewhere."

"Luke." Bobbie's tone was serious. "Jason was shot last night."

"Oh my god. Is he alive?"

"The bullet didnt hit any major organs. And Jason is young and healthy so he should be fine."

Luke grimmaced. He hadn't had too much contact with Jason in the recent past and he had blamed Sonny not only for Lucky's death but for Jerry's arrest as well. "Then why are you bothering me about it?"

"Because I need you to take him this medicine. I need to go to Jerry's arraignment, so I can't do it myself. Besides I think you need to talk to him."

"Why me?" Luke eyed his sister suspicously. "If you want me to give him the 'Stay away from Carly' speech. You're out of luck, baby. 'Cause Jason for some strange reason seems to be addicted to that walking nightmare. But then why the hell not? She is a Spencer after all."

"I think Jason might be at odds with Sonny. That might even be how he got shot. We're not really sure. He told Carly not to contact him. I just want you to help, Luke. See if there's anything you can do."

"If this was anybody else asking..."

Bobbie held up a hand. "I know. But it's me. And I'd really appreciate it. You know I love Jason like a son. He saved my daughter and grandson's lives. And I think he's in more trouble than just a gun shut wound."

"I'll see what I can do."

"I knew you would. They're at Jake's." She set a paper bag on his desk and kissed him on the cheek. "Thanks, Luke."

Luke shrugged. "I could never say no to a beautiful woman. Especially not one with good Spencer blood running through her veins."

Luke watched Bobbie leave and grimmaced. "Well Morgan. I always told you keeping company with Corinthos and sweet little Caroline would be the end of you. I just never thought I'd have have to bail you out."

"Carly...." Jason's voice was just a whisper.

"Oh my god, Jason! You came back to me." She lifted her head and looked at him with tear-filled eyes.

"Where am I?"

"At Jake's. I couldn't leave you in that freezing boxcar so Bobbie and I brought you here."

Jason looked around as his vision began to clear up. The room was the same as it had been when he had lived there before. Untouched. He looked down at Carly. Her eyes were filled with tears and she was smiling at him.

"I thought I had lost you forever." She said softly.

"Not yet." He said gently. He reached down and put his hand on her cheek. She leaned into his palm and closed her eyes. "Carly...I.."

"Shhh" She said moving one of her hands to his lips. "Don't say anything, Jase. You need to rest." She moved her hand back down to hold his and kissed his knuckles. "I love you so much." She looked into his eyes. "I couldn't bear the thought of losing you."

He looked at her face. Her beautiful face. He pulled his hand from hers and opened his arms. "Come here."

Carly climbed onto the bed and rested her body against his. She laid her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes again.

Jason pulled her closer. Her body was warm against his. He reached over and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. "Carly, I couldn't have died."

She lifted her head. Their faces were so close she could feel his breath against her cheek.

"I couldn't leave you and Michael here alone. Carly. When I was lying in the snow when I thought I was going to die. I could only see one thing. It was you. You gave me a reason to go on.I thought of every time I pushed you away. Everytime you offered your heart to me and I didn't take it."

Carly reached up and touched his face softly. "You didn't have to take it. It's always been yours."

He reached up and took her hand in his and kissed it softly. "I know."

She looked at him and she felt her eyes start to brim with tears.

He pulled her closer to him so that their mouths were almost touching. "I had your strength to keep me alive. And your courage to make me fight."

"You have my love too, Jason." She whispered.

He leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. His kiss was tender but passionate. He ran his hand up the side of her face and into her hair.

Carly felt as if her heart was going to burst. His lips were warm and gentle as they moved against her mouth. She pulled her head back. "Jason. You've been shot. You need to rest."

He looked into her eyes. "The only thing I need is you." He pulled her mouth back down to his. This time he pulled the back of her head more firmly and kissed her hungrily. Like she was water and he was dying of thirst. He felt all the passion he had denied for her swelling inside him.

Sonny Corinthos was worried. Jason and none of his bodyguards had returned from the meeting with Moreno. He had already sent people out to find them but no evidence that they were ever there could be found. And to make matters worse, Hannah was missing. Could she have found out about the meeting and busted Jason and Moreno on the docks last night? Sonny was starting to go out of his mind. He knew something was wrong. Jason was either dead or in jail, and either way it was his fault. His fault for not listening to their warnings about Hannah. His fault for refusing to let her go while there was still a chance. He heard a knock on the door and felt relief course through his body. Perhaps this was news. "Come in." He said, his voice was strong not betraying the fear and panic he was feeling.

Benny walked in. "Sir I have some news."

Sonny looked down, dreading what Benny had to say next.

"Johnny is missing."

Sonny looked up in shock. Not Johnny too? "What do you mean missing?"

Benny walked closer and spread his hands out. "I mean vanished, gone. No one's seen him or heard from him in over twenty four hours."

Sonny exhaled a loud breath. "What the fuck is going on here, Benny? Jason, Hannah, and Johnny all gone."

"I dont know, Mr Corinthos. We've contacted Moreno's people with no word back. No reports of anybody seeing any one of them."

Sonny ran a hand over his face. He could feel his world crumbling around him and he had no idea what to do about it. Then his phone rang. He almost lept forward to grab it. "Yeah?" He answered keeping his voice calm.

"Michael?" It was Mike.

"Now's not a good time." Sonny said impatiently.

"Well I'm worried about Hannah, Michael. Tammy said she didnt come home last night and the last time she saw her she was arguing outside Kelly's with Carly."

Sonny stopped. Carly? He should've known that whore was responsible for all of this. "Uh thanks, Mike. I'll look into it. But I'm sure it's nothing." Sonny hung up the phone without waiting for Mike's response. He turned to Benny, barely containing his rage. "Get someone over to the Quartemaines now. Find out if Carly's there and when the last time any of them saw her was."

Benny raised an eyebrow. "I hardly think Carly has any knowledge of what's going on here..." He laughed but stopped when he saw the anger on Sonny's face. "Right away, Mr Corinthos." He said as he turned and left.

"Carly, Carly, Carly, I warned Jason you'd be the end of us all...."

Carly was becoming lost in him. The past twenty four hours had been a whirlwind. Finding Jason in the boxcar. Sitting by his bedside desperately wondering if he was going to die. So afraid they'd never get their chance. She heard him grunt in pain as he pushed himself on top of her and the reality of the situation came crashing down on her. She couldnt do this. As much as she loved him and she much as she wanted him he was hurt and she didnt want to take the risk of hurting him anymore. She grabbed her upper arms and pushed him gently back. "Jase..."

"Carly..."

His voice was husky and gentle. "...we've waited too long."

She pushed him gently back onto his back and leaned over him kissing him softly on the mouth. "And we can wait longer. All that matters to me is that you're okay."

Jason reached up to stroke her hair. "I'm only okay because I'm with you. You saved me, Carly."

"And how many times have you saved me? Huh? I dont think it's even a close number. Making sure you lived tonight and telling you about Hannah hardly makes us even." She said smiling down at him.

Hannah! Jason almost shot up in alarm. Between the shooting and Carly he had forgotten all about his plan with Johnny to rid them of Hannah. He wondered how long he had been out and how out of control things had gotten.

"Jason, what is it?"

Jason sat up slowly and leaned his back against the headboard. "Carly. Get my cellphone."

Carly got off the bed and went over to the chair where she had laid his leather jacket. She pulled the phone out of the pocket and handed it to him. "Jason, is something wrong? Is this why you didnt want me to tell Sonny?" Her voice was filled with fear. She had been so worried that he might not make it that she had completely forgotten about what had been going on before.

Jason took the phone and dialed Johnny's number. He felt relief course through him when Johnny answered almost immediately. "Hey."

"Jason!" The relief in Johnny's voice was even more strong than what Jason was feeling. "I was starting to get really worried here. I had to take action due to some circumstances you're not gonna like."

Jason ran a hand over his face. This was not good. "Are you already in place?"

"Just waiting on you. You better hurry. It's already been too much time, there's no telling how much Sonny or the FBI already knows."

"I'll be right there." Jason responded as he hung up. He moved to get off the bed.

"Jason you cant go anywhere," Carly said as she tried to push him back down. "You just woke up and you lost alot of blood."

"I dont have a choice." He grunted in pain as he stood up. "Will you hand me my jacket?"

Carly walked over and picked it up and held it out to him. "Bobbie said you needed to rest."

Jason cringed as he pulled the jacket onto his shoulders. "I dont have time to argue with you Carly. Unless you want me in prison then you need to let me go." He walked over to her and cupped his cheek.

She sighed. She knew she couldnt argue with him when he was like this. "Will you let me come with you?"

He shook his head. "No it's too dangerous. Stay here." He leaned in and kissed her softly. "I promise you I'll be back and everything's going to be fixed."

Carly smiled softly. "You just come back. That's all that matters to me."

"Well isn't this sweet?" Came a voice from the doorway. "You might wanna check the ballistics on that gun, Morgan if it made her your hero. She has quite a penchant for shooting ex lovers."

Jason glared at him. "What the hell are you doing here, Luke?"
