POSSESSION :: CHAPTER 7

Once I was your one and only
Now here I sit, Mister Lonely

Jason took a long drink from his beer. He felt himself being pulled in a hundred different directions. He had left the Penthouse in the middle of the night. Unable to deal with Carly laying in another man's arms in the very next room. He had been able to push away everything he had always felt for her while he was gone, but not now. Not when she was so close to him. When he could see her smile and laugh and hear her voice. When he could touch her. But he wasn't the one touching her right now. It was Sonny's hands exploring her body, Sonny's name she was whispering, Sonny's ring she was wearing.

He'll hold you tonight, but I won't
What's he got that I don't
The one thing I thought I'd never lose
He's got you

It had taken him so long to mentally accept that he loved Carly. He had always known that he loved her in a certain way. He had loved her as a friend, as a mother, as a partner, but he had been unable to accept that it was always more. Was it because it was so much more than he had ever imagined? So much more than he had ever believed he was capable of feeling? So much more than he had been told he would ever feel?

He was the man who was diagnosed as incapable of any feelings except anger. Then Carly came storming in his life. She brought him problems, complications, headaches, but she had always brought him something else. Even now he was unsure of what it was. What it was about her that made it impossible for him to forget. He had been unable to forgive Robin's betrayal, but he had forgiven Carly's every time without a second thought. What was the difference? What made the ache of losing Robin disappear with time and the ache of losing Carly only continue to grow everyday he spent without her?

Beneath this dark cloud you left me under
Can't sort it out so I'll sit and wonder
Tell myself, "It hurts, don't it"
Now my heart will be forever haunted

Jason took a look around the room. He had gone to Jake's first, but as soon as he had walked through the door all the memories of her had come flooding back to him. He had met Carly for the first time there, so many years ago. It was the first time he had ever slept with a stranger and the last time as well. He remembered her smiling seductively at him and then following him upstairs to his room. Had it been fate? Were he and Carly destined to meet that night at Jake's? Were they bound together by something so much larger than either of them? Or had it all been a way for her to meet the love of her life? Carly and Sonny would have never met if it hadn't been for him. Was he just a tool used by life to bring them together or had they gotten things twisted? Jason knew he would never feel anything for anyone like he felt for her. Surely that meant that she was supposed to be his. Wasn't she?

He'll hold you tonight, but I won't
What's he got that I don't
The one thing I thought I'd never lose
He's got you

If Carly really loved Sonny the way she claimed that she did, would she have slept with him? Twice. He wasn't sure. As much as he hated to admit it, Carly didn't exactly have the strongest penchant for fidelity. She had cheated on Tony with AJ. She had slept with Sonny just as they were about to finally find each other. And now she was sleeping with him while married to Sonny. Maybe he was just another pattern. Maybe it had nothing to do with love, or fate, or anything besides lust. Maybe she was just using him.

Jason didn't know how Carly was feeling about him or even if she'd ever consider a future with him instead of Sonny. But for all the uncertainties, Jason was sure about one thing. He wasn't going to give her up. Not this time. Even if all she would ever give him was her body, he would learn to accept that. Wasn't having a part of her better than not having her at all?

"So where did you send Jason to?" Carly tried to keep her voice casual as she asked. She and Sonny were sitting at the dining table drinking coffee the next morning and when she'd knocked on the door of Jason's room she had discovered that he was gone. And his bed hadn't been slept in. She felt a jealousy inside her heart that she hadn't felt in a long time. She tried desperately to shake it but it just kept gnawing at her. How ridiculous was it to feel jealous over another man? A man that wasn't Sonny.

Sonny poured their coffee. "Nowhere. My guess is he went out on a bike ride."

Carly stared at her mug. Had he gone to Jake's? She could see him playing pool and some little slut coming up to him and hitting on him. Carly was perfectly aware of how other women looked at Jason. The same way she had once looked at him. Before she had discovered that he was a hundred times more beautiful on the inside than on the outside. And that was quite a feat considering Jason's outside. She couldn't keep herself from imagining him taking the woman upstairs and making love to her. It made every fiber of her being surge with jealousy.

"Maybe he has a girlfriend..." She spoke cautiously. Hoping to God that Sonny wouldn't catch on to the jealousy in her voice.

Sonny rolled his eyes. "Carly..." He looked over at her. "Jason just came back, and I don't want you scaring him off by pulling your possessive routine on him. If Jason has a girlfriend, that's his business. Not ours."

Carly looked down briefly and then back up at Sonny. "Yeah but we have to make sure she's someone who deserves him." And in Carly's opinion, no one was good enough for Jason.

"Should my ears be burning?" Jason had just walked in.

"Hey man." Sonny stood up and gestured to the table. "Have a seat. We were just wondering where you ran off to so early..."

Jason walked up to the table and sat down across from Carly. He made eye contact with her briefly. "I was just out thinking."

Carly raised her eyebrows. "Were you doing all this thinking alone?" She tried to keep her voice neutral but she was well aware that Jason knew her so well that he could detect her jealousy from a mile away.

"Carly...." Sonny warned her. "I told you to stay out of Jason's personal business."

She frowned. "I was just asking. You know Jason is my best friend and I don't think there's anything wrong with me asking about his life. You know, Sonny, taking an interest."

Jason held up his hand to stop them. "Sonny, don't worry about it." He turned to Carly and looked at her with his best poker face. He knew she was jealous and he was going to do everything he could to make it worth his while. "And no Carly, I wasn't alone." Well there were other people at the bar.

Carly flinched and then tried to recover as quickly as she could considering Sonny was sitting next to her. "Oh really, so was Mike with you then? Or Luke? Bobbie? Who was it that had you so captivated you didn't come home until breakfast?"

Sonny was not happy about this. He didn't know Carly the way Jason did, but he could sense her jealousy. It was so thick it was almost a fog that separated the two of them. And he didn't like it one damn bit. "You know Carly and I were just having some coffee. Why don't I go make us some real breakfast?" Sonny couldn't bear this. He knew Carly would keep pressing and pushing until Jason caved and he didn't want to be there to see her reaction. It wasn't even something he was ready to accept. He didn't wait for them to answer but just got up and walked into the kitchen.

She watched him go in silence and then got up and moved to the opposite side of the table next to Jason. She looked at him in the eye."What the hell is going on here, Jason? Please tell me you weren't with that prissy good two shoes Elizabeth Webber."

Jason couldn't help but smile inwardly. "What's it to you?"

"What's it to me?" She leaned in and whispered. "You made love to me yesterday and then you run out and find the next available piece of tail that comes along. I don't think so, honey."

He shook his head and leaned his face close to hers. "Well I didn't exactly see you sleeping alone last night."

"Well no kidding, Jase. I can't exactly tell Sonny I want to sleep in Stone's room with you, can I?" She was so hurt by the idea of Jason with someone else that her own words took her by surprise just as soon as she had said them.

Jason smiled outwardly at her this time. "So is that where you wanted to be last night?"

Carly shook her head furiously. "Jason...."

He wasn't going to let her off that easy. He wanted to hear her say the words. He reached under the table and found the inner region of her thigh. All that was separating his hand from her skin was a thin layer of silk in her robe.

Carly almost moaned loudly, but remembering that Sonny was right in the next room she kept it to a low growl. "Why should I say something like that?" She closed her eyes and concentrated on the pleasure his gentle stroking was causing her.

He leaned in until his lips were just barely touching her earlobe. "Because I want to hear you say it. I want to hear you say that you would have rather been in my bed last night."

Carly tilted her head towards his mouth, loving how sexy his voice sounded as his warm breath tickled her ear softly. "Mmmmm" she murmured softly. "I did." She found herself admitting breathlessly. She had yearned for him all night. So much she had barely been able to sleep. So much that her dreams had been full of him. His beautiful eyes. His sexy mouth. His gorgeous body. His passionate love making.

Jason flicked his tongue on her ear. "You did what?" He asked softly as he let his hand roam up further until it was dangerously close to the satin fabric of her panties.

She reached over and placed her own hand on his thigh. She ran her hand up until she could feel his growing arousal from touching her. She ran her hand over it lightly feeling the hardness she had caused. She looked into his eyes. "I wanted you all night long."

He felt himself continue to harden beneath her gentle touch. Determined to keep the advantage he moved his hand until it was touching her panties. He made light circles through the fabric. "How much?"

Carly's eyes closed again. She felt her face flush as he began to tease her. It was slow sweet torture. "So much I couldn't sleep. All I could think about was how much I wanted to be in the next room, making love to you." She whispered softly.

Jason smiled. He moved his other hand to the front of the robe and slipped his hand inside. "I wanted you too. So much that I couldn't bear the thought of you with him. So much I had to leave."

Her heart skipped a beat at his words. It pleased her to discover that he longed for her every bit as much as she did him. His fingers found her nipple and she felt a sharp intake of breath as he pinched it. She tightened her grip on his erection as best as she could through his jeans and started stroking him harder. "So you weren't out with another woman?"

He shook his head. He wondered how much longer he'd be able to take her rubbing him and not throw her on top of the dining table. "No Carly, I wasn't."

"That's good to hear." She smiled happily. As much from the affect she was having on him as from his words. She had been the reason Jason had left. It pleased her to conjure up an image of him sitting alone somewhere longing for her body and the pleasure only she could give him. But Carly wasn't going to let him have all the fun. He was going to have to admit it just like she did. She gave his erection another hard squeeze and leaned in to flick her tongue on his throat. "Why not?"

Jason was sure that he wouldn't last much longer. He would be so overwhelmed with lust that he would have no choice but make love to her that very moment. "Because no one could ever come close to doing what you do to me." He said it softly, hungrily.

Carly smiled into his throat and licked him again slowly. She gave his penis one last hard squeeze and then removed her hand. "I just wanted to hear you say it." She stood up and pulled herself away from his hands which were still reaching out for her. She felt her body aching in the places he had been touching, but she was relishing the thought of turning the tables on him. She sat down at her seat. And looked at him from across the table. He was breathing heavily and when he opened his eyes she could see how desperately he wanted her.
