Magazines
Without a doubt, the best magazine to ever hit news stands was Cinefantastique — that is, the magazine as it existed prior to the suicidal death of its creator & publisher, Frederick S. Clarke. Cinefantastique was the definitive source on genre movie-making in Hollywood (and elsewhere). The magazine were never padded-out with advertisements (like ALL other magazines are); so, no trees were killed unnecessarily. Fred Clarke committed suicide on October 17, 2000, dead at the age of 51. After Clarke's death, long-time contributor Dan Persons assumed editorship (for a brief time), until the publication was purchased by Mark A. Altman's Mindfire Entertainment, who was once a regular Cinefantastique contributor (his specialty was Star Trek coverage). Altman formally re-named the magazine CFQ.
