Whilst 47810 was on hire to First Great Western (covering for several of their locos which were out of service at the time), it is seen descending Rattery Bank into Totnes on Monday 25th June 2001 hauling the 1A45 0820 Penzance-Paddington service.

47810 hauled the 1P03 1035 Euston-Blackpool from Preston, due to the normal HST set being unavailable. 87031 hauled the service as far as Preston, and was then dragged dead to the unelectrified Blackpool North where the train was photographed on Friday 27th July 2001.
