WORK EXPERIENCE

Title: "Development of standards of selected therapeutically important Indian Medicinal Plants" (Indian Council of Medical Research sponsored project).

Venue and Post: Senior Research Fellow in the Department Of Natural Products at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Mohali, Punjab. (10 months)

Work done:

Standardization of 10 indigenous medicinal plants. Completed preparation of monographs of 10 medicinal plants, viz. Asparagus racemosus, Lawsonia inermis, Piper longum, Tinospora cordifolia, Bergenia ligulata, Nigella sativa, Abutilon indicum, Sida acuta, Cyperus rotundus and Tylophora indica.
Quantification and TLC fingerprinting of the above with standards has been done with the help of HPTLC, GLC and HPLC.

• Completed work on the roots of Asparagus racemosus and Shatavarin I (saponin glycoside) was isolated.
  
• From the dried aerial parts of Tylophora indica Tylophorine (alkaloid) was isolated.
  
• From the seeds of Nigella sativa three glycosides have been isolated and volatile oil was extracted and nigellone was marked by GLC.
  
• Worked on the volatile oils from the rhizomes of Cyperus rotundus.

• Different chromatographic techniques. (HPLC, MPLC, GLC, HPTLC etc.)
• Spectroscopic techniques (UV, FTIR, NMR, ms spectra)
  

Teaching Experience:

• Worked as a lecturer in Pharmacognosy in Shiv Dan Singh Institute of Technology and Management, Jaroth, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India.(3 months)
  
• Presently working as a lecturer in Pharmacognosy at Himalayan Pharmacy Institute, Majhitar, Rangpo, East Sikkim, India.(1 year 8 months)
