Studies have shown that parent involvement is an important factor in student achievement. Your interest in school sends the message that the education of your children matters not just to their teachers, but to you as well. I would ask that you provide direction when necessary, guidance when appropriate, support for all their efforts, regardless of outcome and encouragement always to keep them going. If you ask to see my homework assignments before they are given in, they are more likely to be done neatly. Ask if there are any papers to be signed. Ask about progress on projects frequently - this helps keep focus on them and their completion. Offer suggestions that you think might make them better.
