A. MOST OFTEN-ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What does the title "Trigun" mean?
Our hero, Vash, has three guns. (More on his guns to come in a later section.)
2. What's the difference between the manga and the anime?
Until I have time to make a website detailing all the nit-picky little differences in every single character and episode, the most meaningful difference is this: the final five episodes (22-26) of the anime take the story and characters in an entirely different direction from the manga.
Episode 16 ("Fifth Moon") is also significantly different from its manga equivalent, and episode 17 ("Rem Saverem"), as revealing as it is, is almost completely original to the anime. Many of the introductory gag/"filler" episodes are also anime-only. And in the manga, Vash isn't as much of a skirt-chaser, and Wolfwood and Milly aren't really an "item," and... You see? This could take a while.
For a few more differences, check out the comparisons of the anime/manga Gung-Ho-Guns on the characters page.
3. What's the difference between the two manga, Trigun and Trigun Maximum?
Trigun Maximum is the continuation of Trigun. After the first three volumes, Nightow-sensei changed publishers, and the new publisher wanted him to change the title. So, first you read Trigun vols. 1-3, and then you read Trigun Maximum vols. 1-5 (or whatever the latest volume is).
4. Where can I buy the manga?
From me! See the For Sale page for details. They're always in stock, and my turnaround time is quite fast. (Sorry, gratuitous plug. You also have many other online options, Sasuga Japanese Bookstore being one of the most famous, although I've never tried them myself. )
5. Where can I find more English manga translations?
Trigun--Vash the Stampede: Kit has done translations of Trigun vol. 1, chapters 0-2, based on the Taiwanese edition of the manga.
Various Anime and Manga Translations: Contains translations of the first chapter of Trigun Vol. 1 and the last chapter of Trigun Vol. 3.As for me, I will continue (a) doing the newest chapters in Young King Ours, (b) picking up the good Midvalley parts, and (c) gradually working my way backwards from TriMax Vol. 4.
6. Is there any more anime beyond the 26 TV episodes?
No. Apparently, writer Yousuke Kuroda and/or other anime staff members had some idea for a movie version, but it never was realized.
Of course, it's never too late to make another anime series, but so far, I've seen absolutely no support for the rumors spreading in the US, and even in Japan, such rumors are nonexistent.
