Chapter 8: DUELIST

Brilliant Dynamites Neon and Vash have their duel, but the steamer is out of control! Not only are the brakes not working, it looks like the Plant is gonna blow!

Chapter 9: AND SO, BETWEEN EARTH AND SKY

Kaite goes to save the boiler, while Vash takes care of the out-of-control Plant, and BDN sacrifices his vehicles to stop the steamer.
Revelation: We learn that the Plant is "that which 'creates.' A living system that carries out 'production,' defying the laws of physics, giving mankind water, UV rays, oxygen, and ____electricity."
After it's all over, Vash hears Kaite singing Rem's song.
Epilogue: The steamer was discovered and rescued by a caravan a few hours later, but Vash the Stampede had disappeared.

Chapter 10: LITTLE ARCADIA

Part one of Badovic's story. Vash, Meryl, and Milly are hired to guard a valuable geoplant.

Chapter 14. DIABLO

Vash in prison. He has flashbacks of his childhood--Rem talking about Project Seeds, and the disaster, and Vash and Knives fighting in the escape pod.

Note: Rem's last words are just "Vash...," and not "Vash, you must...........Knives" as in the anime.
Meryl and Milly visit Vash, but then Monev attacks.

Chapter 15. FRAGILE

Vash and Monev take their fight to the streets.
More Vash flashbacks--young Vash and Knives are fighting in the escape pod when the computer announces that the crash has been averted.
Vash gets the better of Monev in the bank vault.
Vash's vision of Rem stops him from killing Monev.

Chapter 16. SCARS

Meryl types her report, explaining that Vash let Monev go afterwards. We see Monev tossing his coin half to Vash.
Meryl and Milly walk in on an undressed Vash.
The townspeople ask Vash to leave. Meryl and Milly follow him.
Vash finds Monev crucified by E.G. Mine.
Vash shoots the ball-o-spikes off E.G. Mine before Mine even has a chance to shoot.
Vash, sensing Legato's far-off presence, fires a few warning shots at him. Vash announces that the rules have changed: "I won't give you enough leeway to catch the wounded and run them full of spikes. From now on, YOU are my target!"

Chapter 17: SLAUGHTER CAFE

Legato muses on Vash's words as he eats.
A band of slavers belonging to the Roadwreck gang run across Legato at a cafe in Geneora Rock.
Note: The girls are eventually destined to be sold for their organs.
Legato has a fork shot out of his hand, (note that he asks the barmaid for a replacement spoon). He retaliates by having the Roadwrecks kill each other, but leaves everyone else untouched.

"DEATH BLUE"

Chapter 1: RETURN OF THE BLUE WIND OF DEATH

Descartes and some government troops attack the Gung-Ho-Guns' headquarters. Legato sends them to a gruesome end in a tanker truck.
Meanwhile, Brad and Sensei unknowingly pick up one of Leonof the Puppetmaster's "bugs."

Chapter 2: RESUME OUR BUSINESS

Legato's famous no-hands dinner scene. He announces that the Gung-Ho-Guns' orders are now to subject Vash to "ultimate suffering."
Meanwhile, we learn that Vash is not a good driver. Vash and Wolfwood arrive in Tonim Town, whose population has completely vanished. The name "Knives" has been scrawled in the town square, and there they find Rai-Dei the Blade waiting for them.

Chapter 3: SAMURAI SHOWDOWN

Vash and Rai-Dei fight. Wolfwood watches.

Chapter 4: WOLFWOOD

Rai-Dei attacks Vash from behind. Wolfwood abruptly intervenes. Vash and Wolfwood have a falling-out.
Meanwhile, Meryl and Milly are on the road looking for Vash. As they're hitching a ride in a toma truck, an enormous flying pod crashes nearby. Jessica emerges from the wreckage, calling Vash's name.

Chapter 5: DESPERADO

We see Brad forcing Jessica into the escape pod, and then Meryl and Milly finding her.
Side story: another motorcycle crash awakens Wolfwood from a bad dream and leaves Vash in bad shape. They make their way to a small town, and Wolfwood and a half-dead Vash save the innkeeper's family from gangsters.

Chapter 6: HOME SWEET HOME

Wolfwood's memory of getting shot as a child.
In the middle of the desert, Vash and Wolfwood take a cable car to Vash's old home, a miraculously-preserved ship. The people come out to greet them, but fall into puppet parts in Vash's arms. Leonof appears, saying "Welcome to the puppet show."

Chapter 7: DARKNESS

Wolfwood damages Leonof's puppet Unica, but is diverted by Grey the Ninelives, leaving Vash to face Leonof.

"HIS LIFE AS A..."

Chapter 1: RESERVOIR DOGS

Vash fights Leonof the Puppetmaster's puppets while Wolfwood fights Grey the Ninelives.
Meryl, Milly, and Jessica arrive at the ship.

Chapter 2: CEMENT

Wolfwood fights Grey.

Chapter 3: NO ESCAPE

Wolfwood's fight with Grey becomes increasingly gruesome. Vash's fight is complicated by the addition of real people amongst the puppets. Vash calls Leonof by name--"Emilio."

Chapter 4: EMILIO THE PLAYER

On the run from hundreds of puppets, Vash has a revelation. He sets off the ship's sprinklers, drenching the puppets and their strings, and the sudden weight breaks the Puppetmaster's fingers. Vash touches Emilio's sealed memories, but he runs at the mention of the name "Isabella."
Meanwhile, Brad, still alive in the ship, discovers a mountain of coffinlike cases, one containing a female figure.

Chapter 5: LONG GOOD BYE

With visions of his kids, Wolfwood fights the nine "Lives" with his bare hands.
Brad discovers that the Puppetmaster's cases are full of human remains.
Vash releases the bottom of the ship. Vash saves the Puppetmaster, catching one of his strings, but Emilio forces him to let go, choosing to fall after Isabella.
Meryl and Milly come crashing down from the ceiling and save Wolfwood.

Chapter 6: FAMILIES

Knives, in a weird spiky costume, blasts a hole in the ceiling with his arm.
Flashback of the ship people picking up Vash in the desert.
Vash and Wolfwood wake up in the ship's hospital. 170 of the ship's 480 people have been killed, and Vash blames himself, but Luida doesn't blame him, she tells him he's family.
Vash thanks Wolfwood for his help.

Chapter 7: HIS LIFE AS A...

The two surviving Ninelives are imprisoned; some of the ship men sneak in to get their revenge.
Wolfwood asks Luida about Vash's past. She tells him that Vash was picked up 70 years ago.
Vash takes Meryl and Milly to see the cold sleep cylinders.

--TRIGUN MAXIMUM VOL. 4--
"BOTTOM OF THE DARK"

Chapter 1: COUNT DOWN

After years of broadcasting transmissions, the ship makes contact with Earth, receiving word that rescue ships will arive in a matter of years. A furious Knives destroys the communications satellite. Vash and Wolfwood leave the ship.

Chapter 2: BLUESY KILLER HORN

Flashback to Midvalley's being recruited by Knives.
Legato is surprised to learn that unlike the rest of the Gung-Ho-Guns, Chapel has separate orders to escort Vash to Knives.
Meanwhile, Vash and Wolfwood are stranded in the desert. Meryl and Milly appear in a car, but ignore them, miffed at being left behind.

Chapter 3: BOTTOM OF THE DARK

A large city with significant Chinese cultural influences.
Meryl and Milly stop a rampaging goon, and Meryl remembers first learning to shoot.
Midvalley the Hornfreak and Hopperd the Gantlet talk as they ride towards the city in darkness. Hopperd wants to kill Vash outright, and Midvalley wants to escape.
Zazie the Beast abducts Meryl.

Chapter 4: HELLHOLE

A desperate Milly finds Vash and Wolfwood.
Meryl wakes up the prisoner of the Gung-Ho-Guns.
Zazie challenges Vash to a fight at the building in the center of town. Milly insists on going along with Vash and Wolfwood.

Chapter 5: CRYING WILD BULLET

Hopperd attacks Vash and Milly, while Midvalley goes after Wolfwood.
Meanwhile, Zazie offers to tell Meryl about Vash.

Chapter 6: THOSE WHO STAND BY

Zazie tells Meryl about Vash and Knives' true nature.
As Hopperd fights Vash, Milly finds Wolfwood, and realizes that something is wrong with him.
Zazie notes the approach of someone else towards the city.

Chapter 7: CRIMINAL OF DESPAIR

Hopperd reminds Vash of the Lost July incident. Wolfwood knocks Milly out to keep her from following him. Hopperd and Midvalley regroup. And Knives makes a phone call to a mysterious woman.
