It's not exactly the easiest task to write about oneself. especially since I have neither won the Purlitzer nor any other significant award...but bear with me if you like :)...
The 23. July 1975, I have been told, was a hot summer's day in Kronberg, Germany and therefore a quite ideal start into life, since summers in Germany are far from reliable weatherwise...let me tell you!
My childhood was a great one but my parents might have been slightly distressed about the fact that I developed some daredevilish qualities relatively early on. climbing trees, exploring the wider area while dragging friends along just to break into pretend tears & tell them we were lost & would probably have to die are some of those things I can remember...an all around lovely child.
Well, be assured that I am over those tendencies now.
Some of my early passions were: selling lemonade to my parents (in exchange for real money of course), causing mayhem, being extraordinarily nice inbetween to pacify my surroundings, horseback riding, some sports I nowadays cringe when I only hear their names....
My parents also made sure for me to get some musical education and therefore I worked my way (lazily) up from the chimes via the flute to playing the guitar. But I reached a dead end there due to lack of ambition.
My early "stage career" as a dwarf and in a few other christmas play roles seemed promising to me...but maybe not THAT promising. It dawned on me a little later that I might have been shown my limits at the age of 7, when I had to deliver a poem alone on stage...the rest om my memories are foggy at best. Only the fact remains predominant that I was given some money from the vicar in an attempt to console me.
School was overall an okay time for me with ups and downs. But in the end I was sad to leave school...for two days that was ;)! I guess we all know what it's like.
Then I started to work as a Management trainee with a Chemical Company and after 2 years started to work on a big project with an international group of consultants. This was a time I value highly and apart from learning & traveling a lot, I had a blast with the team both at work and partying afterwards.
When the project was finished I decided it was time to study after all.
After only 1 semester of Psychology (in Würzburg, Bavaria), I started to study full-time European Business Management which linked in nicely after starting a distance learning business degree at the London School of Economics.
As it is a double degree, I got to study for a year in Leicester, GB and had a truly wonderful time there.
When I was supposed to prepare like mad for my finaly exams a year ago, in order to finish my german degree as well, I wondered about what to do afterwards.
I had been working in Barcelona & Antwerp for a while, had spent a great year in England, traveled a lot to Greece & Italy, Mexico, the States and nearly everywhere else in Europe...so it was time for sth completely new and ideally far away. An adventure. So New Zealand it was, I moved to Wellington, NZ about a year ago and it's amazing I can tell you! Such a beautiful and unspoilt country, lovely people and a wonderful lifestyle. But for more "prose" check my reports from downunder.
As a true Film aficionado "Wellywood" is obviously an exciting place to be and my thesis to completely finish my degree, is about the New Zealand Film industry. During I have been working on the paper, I have had a chance to meet so many wonderful people in the NZ Film industry, who helped me a great deal and gave me a unique insight into this "secretive" industry.
A special thanks to the Lord of the Rings makers & actors I met. br> Wellington in general is buzzing...young, creative & fun. Everything is by the sea and with its evergreen hills and temperate climate, winter is nothing like the European winter I am used to. ...you should all come and visit :)!
Things I love:
Friends & family, traveling, reading, writing, films, being silly, go out, the sea & mountains, freedom & justice, having friends over & laugh with them, doing wild things from while to while, being spontaneous, animals, meeting new people...and so much more. For those still with me: a big thanks :) & I hope you did not fall asleep with me rambling on and on...
