2003 S\<> Bull Riding Series      Champion

Loren Bell
Experience payed off for a gentleman who has seen the trials and tribulations of the sport of bull riding. Mr. Loren Bell of Browning, Mt. covered a bull at every single S\<> bull riding event en route to the series championship. He accumulated 1762 points over the 11 event season, and came away with the year end title of S\<> Bull Riding Champion!
Loren got his start at bull riding at a young age. He started riding steers when he was 8 years of age. He would go to his grandfather, George Bell's place and ride steers. When he was 9 he got on his first bull. A yearling bull that was a product of his grandfather and uncle's bucking bull breeding program. From there he was hooked. He competed in youth and junior rodeos from there up to high school rodeos. Coming from a ranch background he was able to do more than just ride bulls. Loren competed in bareback riding, calf roping, and team roping for awhile, but bull riding was his passion. It was what he wanted to do.
From there he got started in the open rodeos and progressed to Indian rodeos eventually going on to the PRCA ranks. Indian rodeo is where he made his home. Loren was a 7 time qualifier to the prestigious Indian National Finals Rodeo with his best finish being a 3rd place finish in 1993. At one point, he qualified for the INFR 5 straight times, the last being in 1998 at Scottsdale, Arizona. It was there he sustained an extremely serious injury that would sideline him for almost 3 years. He broke his hip and was told that he needed to take at least a year off. He returned to the arena in 2001, but didn't have quite the success he previously was enjoying and was accustomed to. Loren has celebrated wins at some of the biggest Indian rodeos in the game. He has won Crow Fair, Sarcee, Browning Indian Days rodeo, and other big rodeos throughout the country. He won the famed Casper Baca Series championship in New Mexico which is no small feat in the bull riding world.
Loren cites some of his bull riding heroes as Tuff Hedeman, Troy Dunn, and the immortal Lane Frost. He lists them because they were alot like him being that they were tall bull riders but still had success.
He lists his main influence as Jake Crasco. Jake himself was a great bull rider that qualified for the INFR on 5 different occasions. Loren's reason for listing Jake is that he got Loren started at the bigger rodeos and let him travel with him. Loren also stated that he used Jake's success as something to shoot for.
As for his personal life, Loren is married. His wife is named Maria. He has 2 sons and a daughter. He works and resides in Browning, Montana.
Loren's advice to anyone, young or old, who wants to get started bull riding is," Have fun and try hard. Work at it everyday. Work hard to be good because you get out of it what you put into it."
We would like to extend a congratulations to Mr. Loren Bell, the 2003 S\<> Bull Riding Series Champion!!!
