Ingredients and Preservatives

In the honor of truth of lableling, I would like to state the few ingredients that DON'T make the official ingredient lists due to the fact that their contents is in the way below 1% something vicinity.

For example, the products containing aloe vera gel. The aloe gel itself is labled 100% organic and is obtained from lilyofthedesert, but IT contains the following:

100% Organic Aloe Vera Gel, Carrageenan (Thickining Agent - a root powder). Less than 1% of the following natural food grade sources preservatives: Citric Acid (Oxidation Inhibitor), Potassium Sorbate (Mold Inhibitor).

That means that in MY final formula it will be much less then their 'less then 1%" and therefore is not listed on my lables (anything under 1% does not have to be, and I'm running out of room on them as it is - but I want you to know - this probably will be teetering somewhere near 0 by the time I'm done with it)

My OWN preservatives (T-50 Vitamin E, GSE, Benzoin and Propolis resins, and various other oils) are usually also below 1%, but those ARE listed, so you'll know. GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract)is not yet certified organic. If you know of a source, by all means, please let me know!! I am currently testing new batches where GSE is replaced with Rosemary Oil Extract. So far, no complaints.

Another point, Butters: It has been impossible to find all the butters certified organic. Cocoa, Shea, and Coconut are no problem, but treasures like Mowrah, Kokum, and Mango butter I could not yet find certified organic. They were too good and valuable to leave them OUT of the recipes they have proven so fabulous in, so for the time being, those remained.

So note, while all the herbs and oils are organic, the final formula can not always claim that lable legally at this time, no matter how my sources might promise that they are. Therefore I stick to the lable: ALL HERBS ARE EITHER ORGANICALLY GROWN (most of them certified) AND/OR ETHICALLY WILDHARVESTED and do not claim the final PRODUCT is certified organic. I don't want to get into the legal battle of how many percent of nonorganic is allowed in a product to still claim the title although I probably qualify. It isn't, as long as there is a small portion in it that cant' claim the certificate, therefore I won't. Natural will have to do for the time being.

Each product is handcrafted in small batches using only natural preservatives, organic herbs, fresh ingredients and pure Essential Oils. The only animal by product used are beeswax and propolis from local beekeepers (VERY happy bees, lemme tell ya).

These goodies contain no synthetic chemicals, no artificial fragrances or colors and no petrochemicals.

Experience has shown the salves and balms to be stable and effective for up to 12 months when they are kept cool and no unclean items are poked in the product (sticky fingers remember?)

Feel free to question and ask for more information to your hearts content if I have left anything uncovered.

Green Blessings,
Sorcy SummerWind
