The Native American peoples who lived in the Plains area were the largest group of Native Americans.

The Plains people were nomadic which means that they did not stay in one place but moved around. They moved following the buffalo which was very important to them.

They used the buffalo in all areas of their lives. The meat was used as food, the skin was used to make the tipi, their shelter, and also used to make their clothing. Other body parts, such as the stomach, were used for cooking containers. The hair was used to sew with and the bones were used as the needle.
