"Science and Foreign Language Study," by Dan Schramm

Japanese... Japanese...

translation:

I believe that there are many studies open to our future. Therefore, within various studies, I like science and foreign language study the best.

Every day, we make new discoveries in science. From this, we are able to recieve the answers to our old questions. Since about the time of middle school, I have liked science. For this reason, I am taking many science classes in high school. Since my third year in high school, I have been studying at the Indiana Academy. I am very happy because the Academy has many high-level science courses. By studying science, we are able to learn about the universe. Through science we are able to improve the various aspects of our everday lives. Now I have become very interested in nanotechnology. Nanotechnology forms machines by the means of atoms. Through nanotechnology, we are able to form smaller pacemakers and faster computers. In cold cities like Chicago, we are able to make non-freezing cement for streets. The possibilities abre endless.

My first foreign language study was middle school Spanish. In Spanish class we learned Spanish culture. Last year my Spanish teahcer was Chilean. Often we talked about Chile, and for that reason I am interested in Chile as well. Since the year before last, I have also studied Japanese. The Japanese language and culture is very different from America's. The origin of Japanese kanji are interesting. Japanese art is wonderful, and so I reading an art book by my teacher. I also like sushi. When I go to Japan, I would like to conduct research with Japanese people. Japanese research is very advanced. I am looking forward to that today.

I humbly thank you.
