Forms of Self Injury It is also unknown as self-harming, delicate cutting, cutting, and is abbreviated SI or SIB (self-injury behavior). Other names for it, such as self-mutilation and self-abuse, are considered too blaming and most self-injurers don't like the terms. Self-injury does take many forms: Cutting - the skin with razors, knives, broken glass or other sharp objects is by far the most common. Burning - heating metal objects untill hot enought to burn the skin, some people use knives, rings, forks, spoons or basicly anything that will heat up with out metaling. Breaking bones - this is where the 'accidently' fall comes in that broke someones finger, some people break bones by falling 'accidently', usally happens by pulling fingers out of place/joint, which then is considered broken or punhing a wall or something hard. Head banging - repeatedly hitting your head againest something hard, like your wall or dresser, until they unflict physical pain. Bruising - repeatedly hitting them selves in one spot so that a bruise will appear or hitting them selves really hard once or twice until bruise appears. Hitting - is basicly the same as bruising and head banging, but hitting is usally done to the head when they do some thing not so smart or irraresponsable. Scratching - scratching them self until the skin breaks and bleeds, basicly the same as cutting but down with not as sharp objects. Biting - is basicly the same as cutting and scratching but it is done by biting hard enough to bruise or break the skin so they bleed. |
