Judge charged with child porn possession

A US judge has found himself on the wrong side of the bench when he was indicted for alleged possession of child pornography.
Judge Ronald Kline, 61, of the Orange County Superior Court in California, was charged with six counts of possessing child pornography after images were found on the hard drive of his computer and on a videotape at his home.
The explicit videos seized on November 5 allegedly showed simulated sex acts involving minor boys.
Kline, who presides over civil cases, was put under home detention order after posting a $96,135 bond.
He is next scheduled to appear in court on Monday following his indictment today by a federal grand jury in Santa Ana, near Los Angeles. The charges carry a maximum jail sentence of 30 years.
Police said the judge's home was searched after detectives received a tip-off from a watchdog group indicating the judge was allegedly sending child pornography over the Internet.
Kline has resigned from his duties as umpire of a Little League baseball team, detectives said.
