ThE PentaclE
The pentagram and the pentacle are 2 different things. The pentagram is a five pointed star. The pentacle is a pentagram inscribed within a circle.
The number '5' is a very magickal number. We have 5 fingers on each hand and five toes on each foot. There are 5 physical senses of sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell. There are 5 points on a human body - head, arms, and legs. Spreadeagled, we form a pentagram.
The top point of a pentagram represents spirit, or akasha. This point represents the essence of life and our spiritual connection to all things.
The top left point represents earth. Earth is stable and dependable and grounded. Earth is green and the direction north.
The top right point represents air. Air is the intellect, understanding, and intuition. Air is yellow and the direction east.
The bottom right point represents water. Water is emotion, always flowing and changing. Water is blue and the direction west.
The bottom left point represents fire. Fire is change and passion. It is the will that drives us in everything we do. It is our spark! Fire is red and the direction south.
