Writing Spells

The spells that often work the best are the ones that you write yourself. When writing your own spells, you need to consider all the aspects of the spell. Ask yourself these questions: “Is there ANY way that anyone could be harmed by this spell?” “What are ALL the possible outcomes for this spell?” “Will I be manipulating anyone’s will for this spell?” You need to consider these questions very seriously. Remember, all harm done will come back to you 3 times over.

Once you have considered and thought about the 3 questions, write down all materials that you will need for the spell or ritual. Think about color correspondences, moon phases, stones, oils, etc, that could amplify your magick. Also, when using candles, remember to write down ‘matches’ so you don’t forget them!

When writing the spell, chant, or prayer, remember that when things rhyme they are easier to memorize. Memorizing what you are going to say and do makes a spell or ritual go smoother than it might if you have to constantly refer to a piece of paper or book. Another idea other than a poem might be to write a type of ‘letter’ to the Goddess, asking for what you want, and then burning the letter.
