vehikel records come up for air
since december 2004, the vehikel heads have been busy with their musical projects. the result is a fruitful summer, which has also led to a redisgn of our catalog. visit our updated discography.
our temporary main focus lies on the promotion of piquet's album 'wilful confusion' (partly remixed since dec 04) and the new maxi 'a seed/radium hit'.
the arrival of the album darkpopromantic by alpha genda (formerly sun squad) is also good news. the album has taken its time, but the outcome is mindblowing.
we expect a single for s.c.o.t.u. (secret center of the universe) within the next few months.
the website will be a bit more frequently during the next few weeks and months again, but we also prepare a new website which will be online when our first releases will become commercially available (late 2005/early 2006).

piquet plugs in the microphone
whereas piquet's 'wilful confusion' (containing material produced between spring 2004 and spring 2005) is an instrumental album with occasional use of voice samples, piquet is now experimenting and trying to incorporate more of his influences into his sound. some tracks in the direction of harder techno have been made, but the main focus lies on writing and recording vocals for electro and dub based tunes. things are progressing well...

new piquet e.p. 'gearbox failure' already here
to be retailed as a promo with the album
well, this headline is based on one copy of the e.p. finshed tonight. even though the release of a new promo wasn't planned that early, some copies should quickly be made, as the e.p. contains 2 new tracks on par with the strongest of the album. the e.p. is called the suspension failure e.p. - lead track is, as already assumed and confirmed by positive feedback, 'a seed'. styles of the other vary from breakbeat to electro, as tried and tested with a little bit of acid, a little bit of dub.

'wilful confusion' receives airplay
swiss radio station kanal k has given enthusiastic feedback about piquet's debut album 'wilful confusion'. four of the album's tracks have been added to the playlist of the aarau based station: 'pamet mani velreiz', 'rudimental', 'think without thinking', and 'a seed'. tracks from the remix maxi 'confused by culture' had already been played during the summer by the same guys. you can check out kanal k and listen to their livestream on their homepage,

ensign records are now vehikel records
last month it has been announced on this site that "ensign records has been the name of a chrysalis sublabel offering funky disco music during the eighties. Though we're not (yet) concerned with legal trouble, we're thinking our name over." this has happened now and we happily present you the redone but simple as ever page of our label, now vehikel records.

piquet album 'wilful confusion' available as promo and limited edition now!
a minimalist yet varied and powerful mix of breakbeats, acid, techno, and dub has been compiled by piquet to the wilful confusion that is his first album for vehikel. piquet takes much inspiration from oldskool hardcore but provides a highly individual mix of danceable pieces carried by weird melodical ideas and psychedelic soundscapes.
'wilful confusion' has been finished in november after 6 months of writing, recording, and mixing and now contains 12 tracks and is 52 minutes long. highlights include 'pamet mani velreiz', a technoid and bouncy take on the jazz of latvian band sirke; 'confused by culture', a spacey, dreamy piece already available as a promo maxi; and the straight yet funky acid of 'a seed' which is a candidate for the next maxi/e.p. watch the album discography for details.

sun squad album nearly ready
the debut of s. gebert under the sun squad guise, an album called 'darkpopromantic', will be available in early 2005. the tracks have been thoroughly reworked; guitar has been added to many of them. the final album contains 10 tracks is sonically ready for release.

sun squad album delayed
sun squad's first demo of the album 'darkpopromantic' receives an unplanned thorough rework and will also be shortened down from its original 15 tracks in the process. that's why the release of the debut album did not happen in september as announced. sorry. meanwhile, another e.p. might appear alongside the album.
