Since 1995, Sun Wheelers Sports and the City of Virginia Beach Department of Parks and Recreation's Therapeutic Unit have presented the Virginia Beach Wheelchair Tennis Classic. Held annually at Owl Creek Municipal Tennis Center in Virginia Beach in mid-May, this USTA sanctioned, sectional tournament accomidates up to 50 wheelchair athletes throughout Eastern United States . The single elimination event starts on Friday afternoon and ends Sunday afternoon with championship rounds in A, B, C, & D Divisions in both singles and doubles. If court space is available and weather permits, a concelation and/or senior rounds will be conducted. In the event of inclement weather, indoor courts are available locally to complete the rounds of play.
