National Veterans Wheelchair Games: The NVWG is the largest annual wheelchair sports event in the United States of America. It is a multi-event sports and rehabilitation program for military service veterans who use wheelchairs for sports competition due to spinal cord injuries, amputations, or certain neurological problems. It is typically held annually the first week in July and travels to major metropolitan areas within the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Richmond, VA was the home of the first NVWG. |

National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic: Held at Crested Butte, Colorado, this event is for U.S. veterans who possess a mobility impairment that include paralysis, amputation, nuerologic disfunction, and legally blind. Sports include downhill and cross country skiing, snow mobiling, scuba, fly fishing, dog sledding... Since 1986, the event is typically held in the 3rd week of March and run by Sandy Trombetta of the Gunnison VAMC and supported by the DAV. |
