Program Description:
The program´s Family Care Center serves as the centerpiece for the resident´s training.  Residents assume full care, with on-site supervision, including hospitalization when necessary.  A large patient load ensures a quality, well-rounded education.  Although a baseline of quality specialty training is provided, the residents are allowed flexibility in selection of those areas where they feel a need for further training.  Other special training includes flexible sigmoidoscopy, colposcopy and cryotherapy, dermatolgy and osteopathic manipulative therapy. With SCH´s many other residency programs, an added benefit is the communication created between residents, allowing for even further training and for improvement in referral methods and practices.

The main emphasis of the program is training in the care of ambulatory patients as opposed to the care of hospitalized patients.
