The Sundown Country Retreat is located on the Rondout Creek. The Rondout Creek feeds the Rondout Reservoir, the reservoir that serves as New York City's water supply. The Rondout Reservoir is about four miles from the Sundown Country Retreat. Fishing and the use of rowboats is allowed on the reservoir with a permit that is issued by the NYC Board of Water Supply.
At the northern end of the reservoir, people have been watching eagles for the past several years. It has recently been declared an official "Eagle Watch".
These are a few pictures of our reservoir that were taken on the way home from the Fourth of July parade last summer.
