No other weapon has the status or respect of the sword. Kenjutsu is studied as either a separate art or in conjunction with any other martial art training program,
The skill is in the timing and precise judgment of the swordsman. This skill, once learned will enhance all other aspects of martial arts training.
There is no belt system in Kenjutsu. It is purely a study and practice of the art. Mastery comes through constant practice. There are basic stances, defenses and attacks that the student must learn. After the student has become proficient in these instructions of technique, they will challenge other students in supervised matches.
Samurai were judged by their action, word and thought. What makes the difference between a swordsman and a master is that the master, his mind and his sword become one! A student learns that their sword becomes a part of them.
