A found poem is shaped from a collection of words or phrases found in one text. A found poem may be created by students after a text has been read, in part or in whole .
Groups select no more than eight interesting words or short phrases. After selections, groups read one word or phrase at a time without interruption and in succession.
This activity enables the class (or an individual) to return to the text to focus on its ideas or its language.
