Mercenary was once a common low-life soldier for a high tech government. After taking a job from a foreign government, Mercenary was captured and tortured. Mercenary was placed into his employer's most feared torture device, the Mako reactor. Mercenary's body absorbed the Mako, giving abnormal abilities. But the Mako had another effect. It changed him from human to a freakish monster. Again the foreign government got a hold of him and offered him protection if he just gave out all of his employer's secrets. So when Merc returned to his so-called "home" he was killed. Awakening in Heaven Merc had lost all memory of his past name. When people saw his action in battles they decided to call him "Mercenary" and the name has stuck. Now, the Mako has given him powers to control water or ice. It has opened a personality that is a tiger but is hidden deep within him. And finally, it has changed him greatly. Fortunately, this "changed" form is hidden deep within his soul and spirit. Merc has been known as a traitor and a weakling throughout Heaven's history. He has proven himself worthy many times though. And now, all he wants is peace, as the Mako makes another drastic change to his life.
