U m i A r c h A n g e l

Umi's life was never the sunshine and glamour that it is now, no matter how bleak it may all seem. In fact, he wasn't that angelistic, either. Born in the outskirts of a wealthy rural Japan town, Umi Kyodaku (as he was known then) lived supporting the only person that he had left: his sister, Ai. With lacks of both food and water, the only way that the two could even survive was to rob the nearby town blindly and buy from it what they needed. The operations were never that easy, either. One foggy night, as Umi and Ai prepared for their assault, the town itself was already under an attack. Its bordering Emperor felt it necessary to destroy the strongest links in order to secure his rule over Japan. And the Emperor was hardly alone: to his twisted side lay an otherworldly being known only as Kouji. Little is known of Kouji, only that he had ties to the Underworld. As Umi and Ai ventured into the smouldering town, thoughts of regret began to surface. "Umi. . should we even be here? There's fires! It's not right!" But Umi hardly paid attention to the problems. "Ai, we have our own sufferings. These people probably deserve what's going on right now. Just leave them alone, and we'll leave with what we need. . don't worry, okay?" Ai nodded. With a simple twist of a knob, the front door to the palace opened; the one place the fires haven't reached, yet. The door slammed shut behind the two loudly, echoing its own menace. Ai huddled close to Umi as they walked through the lengthy hallways and to the main room. Just then, the door flung open as a heard of demonic beasts rampaged behind what looked to be a much larger demon, staring at the two children. "Well, well. . what do we have here?" the mysterious Demon questioned, motioning lightly for his beasts to advance. "A couple of rats in the palace, eh?" He grinned wickedly, as if already knowing what was in store for them. The beasts, already carrying Umi and Ai, advanced slowly. The Demon checked over the two, focusing on Umi. "Hmm... you will do." He gestured to the other beasts. "Dispose of the girl." "No! Leave Ai out of this!!!" Umi cried, but the cries were too short to be regarded. The beasts had already dropped Ai onto the floor, and only her faint screams of pain and agony, along with spurts of blood, were left. Umi's eyes flared with immediate hatred. "You... you bastard! You killed Ai!!" He struggled free, but the Demon only laughed. "Adda boy. Get angry at me. Let the hatred flow through your body." He approached the detained Umi closely, lifting up his chin. The Demon leaned forward before pressing his crimson lips against Umi's frightened mouth, then drew back. He snapped his fingers lightly, and the beasts drew back. "There we go. . have fun now. Ta-ta!" The demonic incarnations slowly began to disappear, then completely faded away. Umi was the only one left in all this carnage, standing dumbfounded on the palace floors.

Years passed from the horrendous times, and Umi, without a purpose of living, wandered the lands in search of someone who would kill him. He'd get into many fights with anyone who even dared to glance at him, but all of them ended the same: Umi would win, and the other person died. It wouldn't take that much to kill them, either. Umi could just stare at the person, his inner hatred burning a bright flame, and his would-be opponent collapsed in a pool of blood. This went on for months, until Umi's wanderings led him to an abandoned and supposedly haunted forest. He entered the forest, hood drawn back, in hopes of a death better suited for one of his tastes. The murmurings of people echoed from the mid sections as he approached, then literally stumbled onto a meeting in-progress, or more-so, one that was finished. Around a stone tablet burning of candles stood three winged people. . maybe angels. At least, they stood there for a few moments, before taking immediate flight into the sky. Umi smirked at the spectacle, and spread his own blackened wings, following the three in close pursuit. Eventually, the three angels paused, stopping at the entrance to their sanctuarial world of Heaven, as one of them turned to face Umi. .
