New Business

Tom reported that the Executive Council met on September 11, 2008.  Those present were Tom McNulty, Keith Colbert, Joy Bump, Judy McNulty and Dave Bump.  No topics for discussion were presented.  An Audit of the clubs finances was completed and each initialed the report.

Tom reminded us that 2009 will be the 10th anniversary of Sunny Memories.  It would be fitting to have a special celebration.  All members are asked to bring suggestions to the next campout, so we can start planning for the summer.

Becky Colbert gave us the news about the death of Julie Peoples’ father.  She purchased a card and passed it around for all to sign.  Julie and Tim Peoples were past members of our club.

Mary and Russel Brown thanked our club for all of the thoughts and prayers, plus the cash donation during their recovering from the flood damage.  They are finally starting to see progress in refurbishing their home.

Tom requested each member send him three of their favorite campground for next year.  Please keep in mind mileage and activities in the areas.

There was mention of a November campout.  No decision was made, so it was tabled until the October campout.

Usually the club has a Christmas gathering.  Carol Nelson was checking into a restaurant in Louisville.  She was not at the meeting and the plans will wait until the October meeting.

Our October campout will be held at Starve Hollow State Recreation Area near Brownstown, IN.  Gene and Jean Ann Brooks will host our Hospitality.  We decided to have a soup and salad pitch-in for Saturday evening meal.

Keith Colbert made a motion that the meeting be adjourned and it was seconded by Dave Bump.

Jean Rutter led us in a closing pray.

Door prizes were won by Young, Hess and Coleman.

Joy’ Notes

Many of our group arrived on Wednesday and enjoyed a beautiful day.  Several visited some area wineries during the afternoon, while others visited with each other as they arrived at the campground.  The evening was cool and we all enjoyed the campfire.

Thursday morning found our golfing foursome visiting an area golf course for a round of golf.  They came back in the afternoon to say it was a very nice course.  Many explored Nashville, Columbus or Story Indiana during the day.  We had another moonlit evening with a campfire.

On Friday, the weather prediction was for scattered rain.  The decision was made to look for a shelter for Hospitality and our meeting.  Most members continued to explore the area, while a couple more campers were arriving.  Late in the afternoon, we had Hospitality and meeting in the shelter with not a drop of rain.  We all arrived back at the campground to ready for a campfire and down came the rain.

It was decided to leave Saturday as a day for all to explore on our own.  After contacting several restaurants for our evening meal, either they could not accommodate our group or they were too pricey.  We agreed to meet for breakfast at the park’s lodge on Sunday morning.  The evening was spent around a large campfire.

Sunday morning brought an undesirable weather report.  The area was going to get the remnants of Hurricane Ike.  Most of us were up early and started to pack up.  We had a great breakfast and headed for home.  Many had rough going with the windy weather, plus some were with no electricity for several days after arriving home.
