James - Keys / Synth

James Chapple
Keys / Synth
James began playing the organ at the age of three. He was forced into music as he had no particular interest in it until the age of nine. At this time, James began playing more often, and entering local competitions where he placed well. This was enough nmotivation for James to continue his musical education. Under the instruction of Devin Scott, James began to develop a real ear for music. In 1990, he placed second in the Canadian National Yamaha Electone Competition (note: an Electone is a model of Yamaha Organs....they are high quality synthesizers with a pedal board for the feet). Two years later, James traveled to Vancouver, B.C. to again compete in the National Competition, and this time was crowned the National Champion. In 1994, James attended a Master Class sponsored by Yamaha Canada. Then, in 1995, James again became the National Champion, and, in a subsequent competition, was crowned Champion of the American Continents (Canada, United States, and the South American countries). James then traveled to Tokyo, Japan to perform in an international show which showcased the 15 best organists in the world. It was Nationally televised across Japan. James is also a finalist in the 1998 YTV acheivment awards, so keep your fingers crossed. He now attends Fanshawe College in the Music Industry Arts Program. James attended Saunders Secondary School, in London, Ontario, where he played in the bands and orchestras on the tuba (don't laugh). He picked up the drums and played in a mediocre group for four years called "THE POCKET HEROES". James met Graeme in high school, soon after, Graeme asked him to perform in the side project. Besides the side project (which James will undoubtedly continue to perform in), James is in a band called "SWEET GRASS", performs backing keyboard parts for "JOEY" (Balducci), is recording keyboard parts on the upcoming "ARCADE" album, the "RAINY DAY GLORY" album, working on projects with local spin master "DJ STEF LEFRANCOIS", wrote the theme for Fanshawe's TV show "VIDEO UNDERGROUND", possibly playing keys for "SLIPNAUGHT" (yes, he has jammed with them before),and is working hard on his own solo electronica/industrial album on his own record label ("IT'S COMING RECORDS). James is very busy with many other projects aswell, and will hopefully be able to continue his musical pursuits for a long time. Watch for his upcoming music video with DJ STEF LEFRANCOIS,aswell as his album.
