I Night Watch nascono nel 1993, quando la formazione comprendeva, oltre a Simone Rossetti e Antonio Mauri che già suonavano insieme brani dei Marillion, il chitarrista Francesco Zago, il tastierista Giovanni Alessi, e il batterista Maurizio Sancetta. Le loro esibizioni comprendevano lunghe suites di brani di Marillion, Genesis e King Crimson, oltre alle prime embrionali versioni di brani propri. A quel periodo risalgono infatti The Black Cage e The Fisherman.

Bisogna aspettare l'estate del 1995 per ascoltare il loro primo demotape, che conteneva My Ivory Soul e The Fisherman. A quel periodo risale l'uscita dal gruppo di Maurizio Sancetta, sostituito dall'odierno batterista Diego Donadio. I concerti si fanno sempre più coinvolgenti, soprattutto grazie alla presenza scenica di Simone e all'elaborazione di nuovi brani originali, che rivelano un potenziale inaspettato.

Dopo il secondo demotape, registrato nell'estate del 1996, diventa ormai certa la prossima incisione del CD di debutto della band. Twilight viene inciso nei mesi di febbraio e marzo del 1997, mentre il gruppo si fa conoscere grazie alle diverse esibizioni in Veneto (Open Mind Festival 1996, Tribute to Genesis Tour, Vicenza by Night 1996), a Vigevano (I e II Camelot Day) e a Vertemate (I e IV Rassegna al Drugo's Bar, 1995 e 1996).

Dall'estate del 1996 alla primavera del 1997, Giovanni Alessi viene temporaneamente sostituito nei concerti da Beatrice Gelli. Terminata la collaborazione di quest'ultima con i Night Watch, le tastiere vengono affidate a dei computer, controllati dal vivo da Renato Massone.

Twilight viene pubblicato nel dicembre del 1997.

Nel marzo dell'anno seguente, anche il batterista Diego Donadio viene sostituito da Roberto 'Bobo' Leoni. Bisogna aspettare novembre per vedere dal vivo il gruppo in Europa. Partecipano al ProgHeaven Festival di Uden, Olanda (21 novembre), quindi suonano al Thelonious di Bordeaux, Francia (4 dicembre) e al Bechtolsheimer Hof di Würzburg, Germania (5 dicembre)..

The Night Watch were born in 1993, when the line-up, besides Simone Rossetti and Antonio Mauri who already played Marillion covers togheter, consisted of the guitarist Francesco Zago, the keyboards' player Giovanni Alessi, and the drummer Maurizio Sancetta. In their shows they played long suites of Marillion, Genesis and King Crimson songs, togheter with embryo versions of their own early songs. In fact, The Black Cage and The Fisherman go back to that period.

We have to wait for summer of 1995 to listen to their first demotape, which included My Ivory Soul and The Fisherman. Just before its recording, Maurizio Sancetta left the band, and was replaced by the present drummer Diego Donadio. Performances become more and more fascinating, above all thanks to Simone Rossetti's stage presence and new songs' elaboration, which show an unexpected potential.

After the second demotape, recorded during the summer of 1996, the next recording of their debut album becomes certain. Twilight is recorded during February and March of 1997, while the band makes itself known playing mostly in Veneto (Open Mind Festival 1996, Tribute to Genesis Tour, Vicenza by Night 1996), in Vigevano (I and II Camelot Day) and in Vertemate (I and IV Prog Review at Drugo's Bar, 1995 e 1996).

From summer of 1996 to spring of 1997 Giovanni Alessi is temporarily replaced by Beatrice Gelli. Ended her collaboration with the group, keyboards are entrusted to a computer, controlled on stage by Renato Massone.

Twilght has been published in December 1997.

In March of the following year, also the drummer Diego Donadio is replaced by Roberto 'Bobo' Leoni. We have to wait until November to see the group touring live in Europe. They take part at the Uden ProgHeaven Festival, Holland (21st November 1998), then play at the Thelonious in Bordeaux, France (4th December) and at the Bechtolsheimer Hof in Würzburg, Germany (5th December).
