I've been to Foz do Iguaçu 3 times already. The first was in 1989, when I went there with my university fellows to visit Itaipu, the world's largest dam in volume of water. Foz do Iguaçu has more than 300 hotels and is considered one of the most important tourist sites in South America, because of this:
- The great Itaipu Dam (ITAIPU is an indian word that means 'THE STONE THAT SINGS')
- The Iguaçu Falls: considered by many (including myself) more impressive than Niagara Falls
- Commerce: Foz do Iguaçu is situated in the border between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguai, and hundreds of thousands of tourists spend a lot of money in its neighbour city, Ciudad del Este.
