Cookies

Wednesday I made dinner for my wife.
She worked late to help some guy in a jam.
Friday he sent my wife a basket of goodies.
He wanted to thank her for bailing him out.

There were two boxes of almond cookies.
One was raspberry flavored and the other tangerine.
My wife gave the cookies to me.
She wanted to make up for missing dinner.

Saturday I waited for my wife to wake up.
I watched cartoons and had cookies and milk.
    Those almond cookies looked expensive.
    Those almond cookies tasted expensive.

I wish my wife's job description was not so fancy.
I wish that guy did not have an expense account.
Sometimes I wish I was not thirty three.
I wish that guy had sent a box of Oreos instead.
