Nights Like ThisNights like this when I can't sleep I'll wish we were in the old apartment where the computer sat in the living room and when I leaned back I could see you in bed unknowingly steering me through my sleeplessness Sitting on the couch watching infomercials I could always hear you call my name after a bad dream I thought you so lucky to be asleep Now after five and a half hours non-stop at the computer (a hundred thirty seven years of SimCity) I realize I could have flown back to New York City and I keep the sound turned off just in case Once I heard you through the two open windows as if you were in another apartment and for a strange moment I felt as if I didn't know you The thought of falling in love with you again makes me cry Nights like this when I can't sleep I'll walk into the bedroom and see you asleep and want to lie next to you for a few minutes but I'm afraid of waking you up and standing there watching you reminds me too much of a parent with a child I'll be glad when the paper comes because I can sit at the dining room table and read and when I lean back I'll see you in bed and soon it will be morning and I'll sleep ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Index | Comedy | Poetry | Racing | Stuff | Sylvia | Links | d-mail | ©1996-2000 |
