Check back in a week. Yell at me if I haven't put anything up.

Hey, at least I put up the banner on top of the page. That's progress. I should have some content fairly soon.

Okay, here's the plan for now. Goop is going to be a column. Typing will just be used to express any old thing I feel like expressing. It could be undeveloped ideas for stand-up, occasional rantings, or whatever. If the page, starts getting unwieldy, I'll reorganize it and set up some sort of archive.
Maybe later today or tomorrow, I'll actually have a thought and we can kick this thing off officially.

Okay, I had a thought. Chris Matthews, the guy on Hardball, is overrated. I never said it was a big thought.

(actually 3/4/2000 but as far as I'm concerned it's yesterday until I go to sleep)
Tomorrow is the Santa Anita Handicap. I doubt I'll be going. That sucks. I did put up a new Goop earlier today. That's good. I also had a strong set tonight. That's always a good thing. I made up some funny stuff about never knowing how many Altoids to take when someone offers as opposed to the ease of Tic-Tacs where the person giving just shakes out as many as they want after one of the other comics offered me an Altoid before the show. Too bad I never tape. I'll probably never remember the bit. Maybe writing in here will help my stand-up. Right now I lose a lot of good bits because I never remember them.
I also adlibbed a piece about my parents being the young old people in their condo in Florida and my mother who replaced taking care of her children with taking care of her clients when she went back to work and now has replaced that with taking care of the old old people. Doesn't read that funny but it is. I have made reference to this before and even wrote about it in a poem somewhere which I can't find. But those days are all behind me. Now I am organized.
Hah.
One last thing. That Altoid was really good. I like Altoids a lot but I've never bought them. There are so many in a tin. It's too big a commitment. Besides the tin makes them look really expensive. I have no idea what they cost because I'm too cheap to even check the price.
Later.

Just re-read yesterday's entry. (I slept for half an hour so it's tomorrow) The Altoids stuff seems Seinfeldian when I read it. It didn't when I performed it. It sounded like me. It's amazing how anything observational now sounds like Seinfeld. Observational comedy has been around forever. Granted vaudeville guys weren't doing "Did you ever notice..." bits but certainly humorists like Mark Twain and Will Rogers included observational comedy in their repertoire and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Anyway, goodnight. Or good morning since I said it's tomorrow. Either way, I'm going to sleep.
Did you ever notice how goodnight is one word but good morning is two? Everything takes longer when you first wake up. Hey, that's a Typing original. I think we'll keep it that way. I'm obviously overtired.

Sylvia thought Saturday's show was my strongest of the year. I thought it was okay but still short of where I was a year ago when I was getting onstage regularly. My timing was definitely sharper than it has been. Being a lazy sort, I prefer working at a pretty slow pace whenever I can get away with it but the last couple of shows have had long pauses that had more to do with the fact that I couldn't decide where I was going than the fact that I like taking detours while I get there. The theatre extended the show for another weekend. I am going to make a sincere effort to continue getting regular spots when this ends.
