Alchemy
For information on Alchemy, Levity contains a vast amount. Perhaps base metals cannot be made into gold. However, there are known Alchemists who donated generous amounts of money to churches, libraries, and other charities. Their donations were far beyond their means. Within fairly recent times, a particle accelerator came in contact with small amounts of Mercury -- the base component used in Alchemy -- and gold was found in it's place. For more on Alchemy, Symbols are an interesting starting point.
Mercury is also the component of hats that conjured the colloquialism: "Mad as a hatter" or "Mad Hatter."

Unexplained
The Activemind site has many mysterious and unexplained topics. Be sure to check into the booby-trapped Oak Island "Money Pit" off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. Millions of dollars have been spent over the course of 200 years searching for buried treasure. Six people have been killed, yet the treasure still eludes all seekers.

AM Radio
Art Bell is the host of a 3rd shift radio talk show. He usually has interviews with interesting people and then opens the phone lines. He does not screen his calls. This allows for some interesting callers to get on the air waves. Art Bell's topics range from secret government agendas to paranormal phenomena and the enigmatic "Quickening."
"The Quickening" doesn't appear to have anything to do with Zoroastrianism or the "Highlander" TV show. If you've ever seen the movie "Arrival," you may have some insight into it's definition for the radio show.

Role Playing Games
The last time I was a Dungeon Master, things did not bode well. The group told me I didn't have enough magic items in the last game, so I gave them a large chest full of them in this one. Unfortunately, that led to hours of examination and testing. Eventually, they broke a magical whip that could only be used in battle. (they never had a confrontation) One of the character's removable holes closed on the whip... also making the hole unusable. I wish you and your band of adventurers better luck. To aid you in your enjoyment of the game, the RedDraco and Legolias sites have extensive lists of links for Dungeons and Dragons -- the game the kiddies are playing at the beginning of "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial."
