1995-1996 MCAD Student Handbook
All students are required to attend the first day of class. Missing the first class meeting may jeopardize a student's place in that class: an instructor may file a drop form for an absent student. Students are expected to attend all classes for which they register. Each instructor sets the class attendance policy for their classes, based on teaching style, course methodology and content. The student is responsible for knowing the policy of each instructor.
If the instructor does not establish an alternate policy, students may be excused for up to two classes. If a student misses more than two classes during a semester, the student's grade may be lowered one grade for each subsequent class period missed.
Attendance in classes is an important aspect of learning. However, on occasion students may have conflicting obligations which prevent attending on a particular day. When this occurs, please inform your professor ahead of time as a matter of courtesy and responsibility. It would also be appropriate to see that your assignments arrive on time whether you are there or not. In any case, the instructor's class attendance policy must be observed.
