ANDI DERIS"Come In From The Rain"

(Reef records)

RATING: * * * 1/2

As you should know, Andi Deris is actually the lead singer of Helloween, who took advantage of a relaxing pause of the band to produce his first solo album: power metal? Not at all! In "Come In From The Rain" Andi reveals his roots, with a bunch of melodic hard rock songs, close to the style of early Bon Jovi and bands like that. In just one song, "The King Of Seven Eyes", we can find real heavy metal, but we have to say that it was played by almost all Andi's mates in Helloween (Markus Grosskopf, Michael Weikath and Roland Grapow)! Therefore you won't find any experiment among these titles, but just fine rock'n'roll, a kind of music that fits perfectly with Andi's rough voice, which sounds surely better here than on Helloween's power/speed. Some great songs are "Think Higher" and "Could I Leave Forever", the perfect marriage between positive energy and excellent melodies, and the ballad "Good-Bye Jenny", truly amazing. Nothing more, then, this record is without any doubt a very honest work, with which Andi had the possibilty to play and record what he really loves. At least, an album to hear.
