IRON SAVIOR
"Iron Savior"

(Noise Records)

RATING: * * * *

For those of you who still have not heard about this project, the first thing to say is that it features Gamma Ray's axeman/vocalist/leader Kai Hansen and Blind Guardian's drummer Thomen Stauch. This should be already a good reason to buy "Iron Savior", but there's obviously more: the leader of the band, Piet Sielck, can be considered as the first Helloween founder with Kai Hansen himself, as the two guys used to play together in late seventies and early eighties, writing such songs as "Metal Invaders", "Victim Of Fate", "Phantoms Of Death", "Heading For Tomorrow", "Save Us", etc. After his friendly split with Hansen, before the issue of the first Helloween ep, Piet went abroad and became a known sound engineer, till the day in which he decided to pick up and old song he wrote with Kai ("Iron Savior") and write some new ones. Those songs are all included in this very good power/speed album, that, ogether with a wonderful concept about the war of Atlantis, gives us a lot of impact, melody, a high technical level and a very nice songwriting. "Riding On Fire", "Children Of The Wasteland", "Protect The Law", "Watcher In The Sky" (also included in new Gamma Ray's work) and the other songs don't have the attempt to show something new, but will easily be appreciated by all true metal fans. One more thing: if Iron Savior will decide to make a tour, there is the possibility to see Markus Grosskopf from Helloween play live with them! That could be the reunion of the year, so stay tune!
