I've seen all these acts more than once and heard lots of great music that's definitely worth owning. A simple click on the banners will open a new window to a place where you can get a good deal on the albums mentioned below, or you can search for anything else you might want to own as well.

Ever since I was a young lad I have been listening to this incredible band and now we get to hear what they played for their cover tunes when they first started out. I must admit that at first I thought maybe they had run out of material since the new album is all covers. But now I think it's more an attempt for them to reclaim childhood since they're doing things like getting married and having children. They claim it's just an album to show all their new fans their roots. Anyway, whatever their reason for making it, this album brings back the same energy from the band and producing genious of Bob Rock which is found on albums since the infamous self-title, which is another album that you simply must have for your collection to be complete.

These guys really caught my attention in 1993 when I went to see them play in Chicago at the Metro. They were different from anything else I'd heard at that time, but quickly became one of my favorites. With their textured guitars they produce a wall of sound that sounds like fifty guitars. After breaking into the spotlight with Siamese Dream they have yet to release an unsucessful album. James Iha has even found sucess on his own with his first solo album Let It Come Down. I would recommend going out and getting all of their albums, especially Siamese Dream.

This now famous musician actually recorded her first album in 1992 although it wasn't until years later that the album became a hit. Now she has released her second album which shows just how much a few years of touring can do to improve a musician's skills. I've had the pleasure of seeing her perform many times in the past and I'm sure I will for many years to come. Although the live performances are best, you have to get both of these albums.

Although she does very little to provide her own orchestration, Alanis does have a distinct voice that cuts through anything. And as long as she has Glen Ballard doing her producing, what reason would she have for writing her own music? I would probably be happy just writing the words if I had a genius like Glen Ballard helping me with everything else. Anyway, they both do another wonderful job on this second album, and I for one am wishing her luck in selling it over the web. If you missed it, she did a virtual tour with Tori Amos a while back and I expect to see more of that in the future.

This young lady has a very impressive jazz based album at only nineteen years old. While some of her live shows have not been as good as they probably could have been, I'm going to blame it on inexperience. I expect to see much more out of Fiona in the next year or two, and I also expect her live shows to become phenomenal, that is, if you like to dance. Buy her album and listen to the whole thing straight through. Every song is great, not just three or four of them. And if you've ever seen Pleasantville, she also performed the song you hear during the credits, Across the Universe. Bet you didn't know that was her, right?
