The beauty
of this band lies in a quality that intrigues us as individuals
but despises us as a society. Every song has parts that would lend
themselves simply to a catchy pop song that we could all bob our
heads in the car and leave our brains somewhere behind us in a lonely
parking lot so we can bask in the ignorance, though a delicate guile
sets this artist apart from many others and leaves our heads intact.
Despite the pop variables introduced early and throughout the album,
once you do the math things don’t add up and it’s refreshing.
This quality of deceit comes from a patient disclaimer of the everyday
and the album purchases it’s own appealing timing and instrumentation
that is at certain key times unpredictable, a little awkward, but
somehow right on. The song that best represents this simulation
is the song “the Taj” and the name says it “all”.
This is our pick for October.
