For electric guitar I can get bored very quickly but enjoy hitting a few effected notes and falling into a hypnotic state. I like to play swirly things. For acoustic guitar, everything is beautiful and whereas electric can leave me frustrated, an acoustic can make me damn happy to be alive with a guitar in hand.

I don't lock myself in room wanking like some boys do as I have absolutely no interest in lead guitar or building my own effect boxes. (I think some nights my guitar even cries due to neglect). The kind of music I would listen to and the kind I would play do not fit like a puzzle. Forming a band that is a hybrid of early Huggy Bear / early Pale Saints with a dash of Bauhaus sounds like fun.

I don't surf much for guitar-related stuff, but here are some web sites you might be interested in:

Some people can create songs and play guitar in beautiful and interesting ways. But overall as far as depth and breadth of composition, playing ability (live and in the studio), and desire to learn techniques from, (for skill can only be achieved through practice), I'd have to say that my favorite guitarists (and the reason why) are:

hisashi Hisashi Imai (Buck-Tick, Schaft)
Key Works: just buy everything, ok?
Hidehiko Hoshino (Buck-Tick, one solo song)
Key Works: really...just buy everything
hide
graham Graham Coxon (Blur, solo works)
Key Works: I just can't decide at the moment but I really love the solo album
Daniel Ash (Bauhaus, Tones On Tail, Love And Rockets, solo work)
Key Works: everything but Mask (sorry, it was always my least favorite)
daniel
john John Squire (The Stone Roses)
Key Album: The Stone Roses
Johnny Marr (The Smiths)
Key Album: Hatful of Hallow

(Most of these were the only guitarist in their band, perhaps this is why I enjoy them so much because they must extract from their creative juices more than just the rhythm or lead part, but rather fuse the two together to create some very interesting sounds and do not become a repititious bore.)

The closest I come to liking a guitarist that "rips" is Dave Navarro. I love the textures on Ritual de lo Habitual by Jane's Addiction. The layers on One Hot Minute by the Red Hot Chili Peppers are interesting. I am anxiously awaiting the debut of Spread.
