" But you two are exact opposites! You can’t be serious!" Koenma said incredulously, his hand unconsciously gripping the seat tightly.

" I don’t care! Why don’t you ever take me seriously?! I hate it!" Botan screamed glaring at him before rushing out of the room.

( Music begins, a series of violins)

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing

(The scene focuses on Koenma standing outside Botan’s door, hidden in the darkness watching her as she sits, looking out of the window.)

Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you’re far away dreaming

(Botan looks up at the stars, memories of the previous night crossing her mind. Holding a red rose in her hand , her thoughts turn to Kurama…about what he told her last night…and she can’t help but smile sadly and sigh.)

I could spend my life in this sweet surrender

(Koenma hears her and stiffens , a dull ache beginning to form at the pit of his stomach)

I could stay lost in this moment forever

( Hurt and confused he turns away and leaves Botan to dream about some other man, the thought sending icy chills down his heart.)

Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure

( Botan, not knowing he had heard her, closes her eyes, but not before a tear slips down her cheek. She lets go of the rose…and tries, as she buries her head in her hands, to let go of her memories of Kurama.The rose lands on the ground and the scene changes as Hiei’s katana slices through the air and cuts a single red rose in half, in another part of the world )

(A vision of last night flashes through Hiei’s mind and he sees it again, almost vividly, two figures under a romantic moonlight.)

I don’t want to fall asleep

(Gritting his teeth, he battles with his heart. Kurama could never love someone like him…a forbidden child. And the rose proved it all; Kurama’s heart belonged to Botan.)

( Looking out from where he stood, he sees a familiar light shining brightly across the dark night…as if calling him. Hiei can’t help but follow.)

(Kurama sits at the window, patiently waiting for Hiei and wondering what was taking him so long.)

( Sighing, he stands up in disappointment and removes his shirt, getting ready for bed.)

I’d still miss you baby

( Turning around he is surprised to find Hiei sitting at the window sill watching him. With a welcoming smile, Kurama moves to give him a hug but stops dead in his tracks when he notices that Hiei’s eyes aren’t filled with love but instead with cold hatred.)

______" Expecting someone else?" Hiei bit out icily." Someone, maybe, who this rose belongs to!" he dropped the shreds of a red rose at Kurama’s feet. Kurama gave him a confused look. " Don’t give me that look, kitsune! I know you gave this to her! And I know along with it you gave your heart also! Well you can have each other…goodbye Kurama!" Hiei said before vanishing quickly into the night. Kurama pleaded to the shadows

" Hiei…wait…!"

Lying close to you, feeling your heart beating

( Kurama lays in bed, thinking about Hiei)

And I’m wondering what you’re dreaming
Wondering if it’s me you’re seeing

(Crying sadly into the pillow he wonders what had gone wrong. Why was Hiei being so difficult?)

Then I kiss your eyes

(A small photograph stands on top of Kurama’s dresser; he moves to pick it up.)

And thank god we’re together

(Tracing his fingers across the picture, good memories of him and Hiei all come rushing back to him.)

I just want to stay with you in this moment forever

( Holding the picture close to his heart , Kurama falls into a troubled sleep.)

Forever and ever

(The scene changes yet again to Botan, this time she is running away from the palace. Closing her eyes she takes a deep breath. Nobody seemed to want her; Kurama didn’t love her and her own boss Koenma refused to speak to anyone, even her.)

I don’t want to fall asleep

(Meanwhile, agents from the Makai world invade Reikai , searching for the kingdom’s lost treasures.)

Cause I’d miss you baby

( A small group head towards the palace and set it on fire. It catches fire quickly and everything goes up in flames.)

(All throughout the commotion Botan still leans against the wall, unaware of everything until she feels the building start crumbling beneath her. Looking up, she sees one of the towerheads crashing towards her. She screams, mysterious green eyes unconsciously lining her thoughts…)

(She feels a sudden force against her body and catches sight of the structure crashing inches from her. Looking up she sees, instead of the green eyes in her dreams, a familiar set of brown ones looking deep into her own. She smiles, knowing the truth)

I’d still miss you baby

(Koenma stares down at Botan and slowly, ever so gently, lowers his mouth to hers. Botan kisses him back passionately and the kiss builds up as the flames around them burn even more brightly…flames of love…)

And I don’t want to miss a thing

(Meanwhile Hiei is battling his way through Rekai, having received Koenma’s earlier call for help.)

I don’t want to miss one smile
I don’t want to miss one kiss

(He drains out his anger on his opponents, killing them swiftly and unmercifully one by one)

I just want to be with you

(He tries hard not to think about Kurama but memories just seem to come meet him at every corner, feeding his fighting spirit.)

Right here with you, just like this

(Hardening his heart he vowed never to let himself lose his heart to anyone ever again. As he finishes off one of his other opponents, he fails to notice the other demon aiming a rei blast at him.)

I just want to hold you close

(Hiei turns around as the sound of the blast reaches his ears, but not in time to realize that it is heading right towards him.)

Feel your heart so close to mine

(It fails to hit him though as a streak of red flashes in front of him, intercepting the shot. As Kurama falls to the ground Hiei finishes the demon off with a few swift and angry strokes.)

And just stay here in this moment

(Hiei hurries to where Kurama lays gasping for breath. Holding Kurama’s head in his hands he asks him why he had risked his life to save him as the yuoko lay dying.)

For all the rest of time

" Because I love you Hiei…only because my heart belongs to you; always…has…and always…will."

Don’t want to fall asleep

( Kurama, struggling to stay alive even for just a moment, hands Hiei a single red rose and gives him a tender smile before his eyes droop and his body goes limp in Hiei’s arms.)

Cause I’d miss you baby

(A black tear gem falls unheeded down Hiei’s cheeks as he takes the rose in his hands with shaking fingers. He screams in anguish as he realizes his best friend and one true love is gone.)

And I don’t want to miss a thing

(The leaves swirl around Hiei as he lowers a bunch of flowers on a lonely grave)

I don’t want to fall asleep

( Hiei kneels down to finger the hard concrete. " I miss you Kurama, and it hurts…but I know someday we’ll be together again and this time its going to be forever…will you wait for me?")

I don’t want to miss a thing

( As if in answer, the scent of roses fill the air and Hiei stands up, assured, and makes his way down the road, dust billowing behind him as the scene fades along with the music.)
