After this summer's performance at the KROQ Weenie Roast, 311 is
definately ready to "deck the halls" for the 1996 KROQ Almost Acoustic
Christmas. If you're not familar with their music, it won't take long
to spot the harmonious funky style of driving, yet melodic music combined
with both singing and rapping by front men Nick Hexum and S.A. Martinez.
Backing up with the beat is Chad Sexton(check the drum solo) with his
room mate P-Nut servin' up enough basslines to pick and choose from.
Cap all this off with gutarist Tim Mahoney and he Omaha-raised, L.A. based
311 becomes complete. Now with three albums under their belt:
Music(1993), Grassroots(1994), and self-titled
311(1995), the bvand has released a new video, Enlarged To
Show Detail. It documents their tour life with honesty and humor
while giving your first-hand descriptions of each band member. But the
real treat is in the four-track CD that comes with the package and
includes all previously unrealsed songs. Now that's what I call an
"Acoustic Christmas" gift. With 311's recent sucess(311, over
1,000,000 copies sold, Music, and Grassroot over 250,000
each) and heavy play on MTV and KROQ, you can bet they'll be one of
the highlights of tonight.
