The stage got dark and filled with smoke at approximately 9:00 p.m. Greeted by an anxious crowd, with the aid of multi-colored lights and strobes, Marilyn Manson took the stage. Manson was dressed in a white corset with knee-high tights and a black leather jock strap, along with his bandmates in similar attire.
His vocals ripped through the crowd like thunder while banging the mic on his chest and tossing his hair in the air throughout the show. The band’s pounding industrial style sound exploded the entire Meadows Music Theater. Songs included Lunchbox, Tourniquet, Irresponsible Hate Anthem, The Beautiful People, and the cover Sweet Dreams.
Some hightlights included Manson coming out dressed in a black and red suit, with a facist like back drop on the stage, singing and preaching at a podium. Reminded me of a similar scene in the movie “Pink Floyd The Wall.”
He also came out wrapped in an American flag. He took it off, wiped his behind with it, then tossed it to the crowd. Stressing many political and anti-Catholic statements (which were not always in good taste) he was getting his point across.
Manson really stresses people to be individuals and to create their own destiny. Though his approach may be considered harsh at times, he is getting everyone’s attention this way.
Mostly he was happy the lawsuits had been lifted, stressing to the crowd that "we won the battle." I was one of the many who were glad they did because they put on a great show! Check them out if you can. Look for Marilyn Manson on the Ozz Fest Tour. See you there!
