Oasis Biography

Oasis is a band from Manchester, England. The band is made up of Liam
and Noel Gallagher, Paul Arthurs, Paul McGuigan, and Alan White. Noel is
the main songwriter and composer for the band, but he did not start the
band. Oasis was founded by Paul Arthurs, Paul McGuigan, and drummer TonyMcCarroll. After a little while, Liam was brought into the band as the lead singer. Originally, they were called The Rain. That is until Noel
was brought into the band. He said he'd be in the band if he could write
the songs. He then renamed the band Oasis. After playing the club scene
in England, they were discovered and signed to Sony Music Worldwide and Epic Records.They soon released their first album, "Definitely Maybe," which became the fastest selling debut album in
England, but was not so popular in the US. Then, after a fight
between Liam and Tony McCarroll, Tony was fired. Drummer Alan White washired and became the new drummer. Soon after, Oasis second abum wasreleased giving them popularity in the US. The album would be "(What'sthe Story) Morning Glory." "Wonderwall" was the breakthrough song. Thenbegan the US tour. During this tour, Oasis became annoyed at fans fortheir disrespectful actions.....and Liam became less interested in the band. He missed the Oasis Unplugged for MTV in August of 1996 and three tour dates were canceled because Liam had to look for a new house. At
the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards, the reunited only to end this after
their performance. Then the rumors of a breakup began to spread. During
the months of little news from Oasis and breakup rumors, Oasis was in
the studio recording their third album. "D'You Know What I Mean" was
then released in July of this year which was the first single in over
a year. This single did and still is doing very well. Then on August
26th, "Be Here Now," the long-awaited third Oasis album, was released.
Now Oasis is planning another tour. Will it turn out like the last tour?

Biography . Noel Thomas David Gallagher

Born on the 29th of May 1967 and raised in Manchester. Noel started messing about with his Dad's guitar when he was 6 years old. He started playing seriously when he was 14, being inspired by Johnny Marr. He went to school and worked a few different jobs but in the end they were not for him. One job was working in a mechanics shop. There, noel wrote four songs,including supersonic, that would eventually be on definitely maybe.But before oasis, Noel was a roadie for the Inspiral Carpets who gave him his first taste of the rock 'n' roll lifestyle.Noel's next big step in music was checking out his little brother's band called oasis. He joined the band under the guideline that he writes all the songs. The band agreed and oasis was officially formed. Their first gig took place in October of '91. Shortly after that they were spotted by a music company representative at a gig and where quickly signed. The rest of the story from there is pretty much history. Noel as shown to be very generous with his new riches. He takes care of his family, except for his father who can be best described as "a coont". Noel also always takes time to sign autographs because he loves the feeling of it. This shows some of the things the media can not see behind the shocking quotes and sibling rivalry. Currently Noel is married to his wonderwall, Meg.

William John Paul Gallagher

Liam was born in Manchester on the 21st of September 1972. He used to sing in night clubs in Manchester. Paul Arthurs, Paul McGuigan and Tony McCarroll, who had a band called The Rain until they packed it in in '91, was missing a lead singer for a performance. They got Liam to sing and then became oasis. Noel joined three months later. When Liam was in his late teens his father,Tommy, left them. Liam and Noel didn't mind that much because they knew their parents were having problems for three years. Liam told his dad not to come back or he would know what would happen him. But he did come back, at 4:30 in the morning, 11 years later in the Westbury hotel in Dublin when oasis was doing a gig in the Point. Tommy walked in and Liam didn't give him a chance to explain himself, he just swung for him and the two began brawling. Liam Gallagher had been known for getting drunk and getting himself into fights. Not only did he have a fight with his father he also had a fight with Michael Hutchence (lead singer of INXS), while in Ireland. That is why he has been donned as the new bad boy of rock 'n' roll. Currently, Liam is married to Patsy after a secret ceremony.

Alan White : Drums
Date of Birth : 26th May 1972
Alan replaces Tony McCarroll, Oasis' previous drummer. He joined the band the day before they were to play Some Might Say on Top of The Pops, and has stayed with them ever since.

Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs : Rhythm Guitar
Date of Birth : 23rd June 1965 The only other member of Oasis to sing his own song.

Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan : Bass Guitar
Date of Birth : 9th May 1971
Guigsy was with the band even before Noel (it was called The Rain then). He has been with them ever since, except for a brief period in '94, when he didn't go on a tour of America due to exhaustion.
